"Can we at least try to get along?" Lukas asked as he was beginning to feel bored just floating around and doing nothing. "I mean, we can try but I'd be surprised if you make me feel anything positive about you." Bethany replied without even looking towards Lukas. "Well, as long as you're willing to try then that's good enough for me. Is there anything that you like to do?" Lukas inquired as he was curious as to what goes on in the mind of a destructive goddess. "There's nothing I like doing anymore, I just kill and destroy whatever I need to and at one point I may have taken joy in that too but the last time I can remember that being the case was way too long ago." Bethany explained with a sigh as if she didn't enjoy talking about that subject. "There's got to be something that still makes you smile though, right?" Lukas wondered aloud as he doubted that Bethany wouldn't be able to find enjoyment in anything anymore.
"If there is something that can make me happy then I haven't found it yet... although I've been alive for so long at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if I've seen everything that can ever exist." Bethany spoke as she finally glanced over in Lukas' direction. "Out of curiosity, how long have you actually been alive for? You still sound pretty young." Lukas commented and he wasn't lying... at most, Bethany sounded like a young woman roughly in her twenties. "I stopped counting; at a certain point a god's age just becomes a number that mortals use to try and understand them so it's irrelevant whether we keep track of it or not." Bethany responded without really answering the question. "Oh, well that's an interesting fact at least!" Lukas exclaimed as he felt like he was getting closer to Bethany... if only slightly. "You find THAT interesting?" Bethany asked rhetorically as she fully turned to face Lukas. "I can't imagine anything that would be more interesting that you could tell me." Lukas stated as an attempt to get Bethany to tell him something without asking her directly.
"Well, how about this; are you mortals perhaps interested in the possibility that there is somebody stronger than me? Somebody who you should all be more worried about?" Bethany asked with a laugh as she was clearly enjoying the fact that she had more knowledge than Lukas. "That is... a terrifying thought but it certainly is interesting! Can you tell me more?" Lukas responded with another question. "Unfortunately for you, no, I cannot tell you more. You're lucky I even informed you as much as I already have, that's meant to be a secret among gods." Bethany explained which made Lukas slightly disappointed but more curious than anything else. "If it's meant to be such a big secret then how come you told it to me so easily?" Lukas continued with his questions however this one seemed to make Bethany think for a second. "That... is because you are the only mortal to have ever survived me and not only that, you have survived my attempts to destroy you twice now and I figured that feat was impressive enough to earn you some kind of great reward." Bethany answered which Lukas could tell was an excuse that she had made up on the spot based solely on how her voice sounded.
"True, I have read the stories that described you as an unstoppable force that nobody had ever escaped from alive but I think you're giving me too much credit. It wasn't exactly my own capabilities which allowed me to survive whatever you tried to do." Lukas partially agreed with Bethany as he pulled out the red orb from his pocket that fit comfortably in his open palm. A short laugh from Bethany followed Lukas' comment before she responded. "Do you even know what that thing is completely capable of?" Bethany questioned Lukas which made him wonder even more about the situation he had gotten forced into. "Forget about what it's capable of, I don't even understand what this thing is!" Lukas exclaimed as he stared deeply into the dark red hue within the orb, it felt intriguing and yet eerie at the same time, as if he was being stared at by some presence contained within the object. "The Eye of Extinction; a weapon of my own making. After I had mastered the power of the brimstone flames, I realised that I couldn't get any stronger through natural means so I used my magic and a bit of help from a very intelligent friend to create the Eye which amplifies the powers of the one who holds it." Bethany clarified which Lukas was especially interested with considering the fact that he loved stories surrounding powerful artefacts.
"How much power does it actually have?" Lukas pondered out loud as he turned the Eye over in his palm to observe it from all angles. "I'm going to be honest; I don't even know if I have discovered its full potential. That Eye is the very thing that made everyone consider me a god; with its power I could evaporate oceans in seconds, destroy entire civilisations within minutes and above all else, it granted me respect from other gods and now a majority of them fear me." Bethany continued to make Lukas' curiosity grow... it also made him incredibly excited and nervous to know that he was holding one of the most powerful objects within his hands and that its power was now his to control. Then, Lukas suddenly had an idea. "If this thing can grant you that much power, then does that mean that I could use it to actually look around this place we've ended up in... wherever this is?" Lukas suggested which he thought was one of his rare good ideas. "No, no, NO! Absolutely not!" Bethany yelled in what seemed to be genuine fear.
"What? Why not?" Lukas asked as he didn't expect such a negative reaction to an idea that he thought was brilliant at the time. "I am NOT putting that power in the hands of a child! Well... I mean... I technically already have and that's bad enough so I'm not going to make this situation even worse by teaching you how to blow stuff up and light things on fire!" Bethany stated as she turned away with her arms crossed. "Well, why not? There's nothing here to destroy." Lukas said as he spun around slowly to see nothing in sight but that same white void that he was currently in. "You could hurt yourself and that Eye wasn't exactly made to make healing easier; it's made for destruction and nothing else!" Bethany exclaimed as she seemed irritated since Lukas wasn't noticing the problems that she was. "Since when did you start caring about my safety?" Lukas inquired with a smile as Bethany paused for a second as she clearly had no answer. "L-look, if I'm dead and you're the only company that I've got then I don't want you dying on me, alright? You're the only thing that's gonna keep me sane out here!" Bethany explained in a tone that didn't seem too convincing to Lukas.
"Fair enough... but anyways, I wasn't asking for any type of destructive powers, I just saw that you could fly around and I was wondering if I could do that too with the power of the Eye?" Lukas guessed which seemed to make Bethany calm down. "Well, if that's all that you want to know then I'll teach you how but only if you agree to my rules." Bethany spoke as she finally turned to face Lukas once more. "Go on." Lukas responded simply. "Rule one; in order to teach you how to fly, I will have to teach you the one main rule of the Eye's powers, once you understand that you should easily understand how to perform other things... but you must promise to never use any other powers unless if I permit you to." Bethany explained which made Lukas nod in agreement. "The second rule; don't let anybody see the Eye, it's a very precious thing and if someone steals it from you then I won't be responsible for it. Finally; if you see a man in a white robe with golden accents and a hood that covers his face... then run. Are these rules clear?" Bethany asked as she folded her arms behind her back. The last rule made Lukas confused and so he went to ask her about it but she quickly interrupted him. "Are they clear?" Bethany asked once more with a stern voice. "Y-yes, one hundred percent, I agree!" Lukas replied quickly as Bethany's voice was beginning to scare him. "Good, now close your eyes and listen closely." Bethany requested in a completely calm voice to which Lukas silently complied.
"Your emotions, they will be your weapon."
