Chapter 6

He more or less crashed in the strawberry field. Scaring the life of the Satyrs there.

Trevor was genuinely surprised he didn't find any of his siblings there. It seemed like it was all they did.

He tried to apologize to the Satyr that he nearly ran over as he shouted at him, but the dragons got annoyed and blew a burst of flame out of their nostrils.

"Sorry!" He called after the fleeing spirits.

A voice chuckled behind him. Trevor turned around meeting this gaze of a somewhat elderly woman with golden weath holding her hair back in a bun. She wore a traditional Greek toga colored in warm green. It almost melded with the grass at her feet.

Trevor gulped a little.

"Mother." He greeted with a small voice. He stared at her for a few moments. She sent him a warm inviting smile, but still briefly tilted her head.

Trevor got flustered as he realized he was still on her chariot. He stepped down and walked with Demeter as she inspected her vehicle. She trailed her hand along the scuffs in the wood. Sealing them closed without a word.

"I was attacked." Mumbled Trevor.

"Is that so? I guess someone covered a mount they couldn't get." Chuckled the goddess petting the dragons, whom were now purring like kittens under her touch.

"She had an amulet, with a golden scythe on it." The goddess froze, but it wasn't enough of an indicator that Trevor should have stopped talking.

"Was she I line with Kro—." The goddess spun around "do not speak his name." Thundered Demeter the entire field growing impossibly colder. Trevor stumbled backwards as the color of every single plant was suddenly darkened.

Like the very life was being sucked away by the emotions of the goddess.

Demeter blinked, her green eyes softening.

"Forgive me my child." She sighed "but that name I still dread after countless years. I fear you're not mistaken. There are some half-bloods out there who want him back to rule the cosmos. My brother might be a malaka when he wants to be, but at least he's less of a tyrant."

Trevor nervously gazed at the scenery as the plants slowly regained their colors.

"Well." She smiled slightly "I believe a reward is in order. After all you not only brought me my dearies back, you braved great danger to get them."

Trevor nervously got closer as she gestured for him to do so with her finger.

She gently grabbed his hand with hers. Her skin was warm, but her palms were calloused and strong like those of a hard working farmer.

The air in her palm shimmered as she conjured two wooden rings. Both were smooth, one made of dark wood and the other being of a much lighter color.

"What do they do?" Wondered the demigod wide eyed.

"I'll let you find that out for yourself. I fear I must be off." Replied the goddess with a mischievous smile.

With that the goddess wrapped her arms around him. Fading away in a gust of leaves.

Trevor stood there for a few moments. Almost as if in a daze. Somewhat wondering if all that had even happened.

The subtle weight of the rings around his fingers anchored him back to reality. Somehow the two pieces of jewelry were around his fingers of their own device.

The son of Demeter smiled.

There was much more for him to do and the world could only dream of stopping him.
