Alex laid in bed with Vikki snuggled into one arm; her soft breaths brought him comfort. He stared at his phone out of the corner of his eye and saw that the early morning greeted him.

'Do you have to do this every time I wake up, even if I'm not fully awake? What happened to "A more reasonable time?"' The young, love-struck man wanted nothing more than to roll over and cuddle Vikki back to sleep instead of getting up and dealing with his system's nonsense.

[If we don't take every opportunity of your day]

[How will we ever bring glory to the herd?]

'I suppose you are trying to do what is best for the family...' Alexander contemplated for a moment.

He could be upset with the system, but he found that it would be pointless. Nothing would change except he'd waste time and lose brain cells arguing with it. It was better that he just let it do whatever it wanted to while he ignored it.

'Training in the morning isn't asking too much of me, and I'm sure Vik will understand...' He slid his arm out gingerly from beneath her gentle face and rolled away from the bed, careful not to wake her.

'I did have another question for you, though,' his voice rang out in his mind as he picked up a pair of shorts and slid them on quickly before heading toward the kitchen.

'What's with you constantly asking me if I would like to produce an heir whenever I'm intimate with Vikki?'

He blushed a bit as he thought, 'I'd rather you not distract me.'

[umm...]

'You can "umm?"' Alex couldn't recall a time when he stumped his system; he made a mental note of it.

[The truth is, you can only produce a single heir to the Were-Rex system.]

[This is that method.]

'So I can only have one child?' Alexander nearly dropped the coffee cup in his hand at that revelation.

[No, you can only produce a single heir to the Were-Rex system.]

[All of your other children can be produced naturally.]

'So, why even ask?' He placed his mug on the counter.

'She's on birth control. It's not like she'd produce an heir anyway,' he thought as he began preparing some beans to roast a pot of coffee.

[Well, our system doesn't care about that.]

[The viability of the heir would be guaranteed by the world.]

'What?' Alexander dropped his measuring cup and his coffee beans scattered across the marble countertop.

[You're an adult now, it's time you learn about the ways of the Were-Rex.]

'So, the pregnancy will be guaranteed…" His knees felt weak

"No matter what? That's either amazing or horrible!' Alex swept up the beans and threw them into a nearby trash can.

'Y'know what. This has been a strange morning…' he wasn't sure what was happening anymore. He decided to ignore his system as he slowly trekked back to his bedroom to ensure Vikki was still there.

He felt the world might be playing some sort of evil joke on him and feared that he may still be asleep.

Noticing she had turned onto her side, Alex softly climbed up onto the bed and sprawled out right in the middle. He had planned on starting his training right away, but the system had affected his mentality. He didn't think he'd be able to concentrate at the moment, so he wanted companionship to feel more grounded.

Vikki felt the movement on the bed and, in her sleep, desired to be close to him. She immediately rolled into his body, moving her arm across his waist as she laid her head on his chest.

The two of them laid together like this for hours, the warmth of each other's embrace enveloping them. It wasn't until the sun was high in the sky that a knock on the door stirred them from their slumber.

Vikki woke up to the racket first, as Alex groggily sat in the center of the bed. She handed him a red silk robe that had his initials monogrammed on the pocket. It seemed to match the style of the black robe that she wore that fell only a few inches down her thigh, barely covering anything at all.

Under the right light, her figure could clearly be seen through the thin fabric.

"Time to get up; we're all grown up now." she smiled at her tired lover with a hint of pride.

"I thought I'd be able to sleep in when school was over." He pleaded as he reached for the robe.

"Doesn't life get better now that I'll be going to college?" Rolling over to the edge of the bed playfully, he began putting the robe on.

"It gets worse," Vikki answered honestly.

"But you get to wake up next to me," She bent over and whispered gently into Alex's ear, nibbling on his earlobe.

"I'll take that trade any day!" He gently pushed her back by the shoulders and gave her a quick peck on the lips.

The young man wanted to quickly get his robe on so he could answer the door. The last time he did, it was extremely important. He was hopeful that today the situation would repeat itself.

"Let's go, Vik! Maybe it's something else about my parents." he slipped on some generic house slippers and grabbed Vikki's hand energetically.

"Alex, I think you need to temper your expectations a little bit." Vikki pulled back slightly.

She didn't mind seeing her loved one excited, but she didn't want to see him get let down. It wasn't unusual for him to get emotional about things he cared about.

"Not every day is going to be earth-shaking, right?" she tried to make Alexander see it reasonably, but he just wouldn't budge.

Eventually, he just let go of her hand and jogged for the front door.

"At least don't forget that I'm here," Vikki shouted as she tried to step out of sight in her revealing robe.
