Beginning of the Assault

Marcius let out a small smile, despite the intense atmosphere, as he looked at the army of the Flavic sector moving and forming up around him.

The infantry was slowly forming into neat yet tight lines at the very front, with their shields at the ready and their spirit weapons pointed forward. It was a formation of a classic shield wall but with better coordination and spirit energy radiating off from the mass.

The archers took up from behind, with arrows already nocked on their bows and ready to draw at a moment's notice. They formed up nice and safe behind the shield wall.

And the cavalry formed up at the far right, with their lances and shields ready.

All around Marcius was the classic formation of Rubrum's armies when they went to war. Despite Marcius's desire to reform the army and tactics in a better way, some old strategies were still relevant even in Marcius's opinion. Why change something which already worked very well and was still not outdated?
