The crime scene (2)

"Yeah, it might just be a mistake, I might have heard wrongly" The policeman who was still doubting his ears said as he sighed out.

"Yeah. But I don't blame you though, after all, what we had seen today wasn't right in any way. So I think that we just focus on guarding this place until the inspector arrives with the person he was going to bring".

"Yeah, you are right. Let's get back to work" The policeman wrote off what he had heard as a mistake and went back to his duty post.

"Phew!!… That was close" Lucien said while looking at the abandoned building that was now in front of him.

Seeing that there was no way for him to get caught, Lucien still didn't want to take any chances as he walked to the side of the abandoned building, while he looked for an open window that he could use to get in.

Although the front door was sealed off with yellow tapes, it wasn't shut close as a small crack could be seen.

But that doesn't mean that he would be going through the front door. He walked to the backyard of the abandoned building until he finally found an open window.

Propping himself up as he manoeuvred through the gaping hole of the opened window, Lucien finally set foot in the building.

And as he was about to look for clues, and do some investigation of his own, a terrible stench made its way through his nose.

"I guess there is no need for me to search for clues" Lucien said as he used his hand to the bridges of his nose together:

The kind of smell that he was currently perceiving was so bad that Lucien wished that he could turn off his heightened senses.

The way a normal human being can't control his sense of taste after eating something that tastes bad is the same way he couldn't stop the smell that has amplified five to ten times more after reaching his nose.

Damn! He could even taste it as the slight breeze slowly brushed against his face.

But fortunately as a huntsman, this isn't his first time expressing something like this.

And although he already has a hunch on what the smell was, he still didn't affirm to guesses until he has confirmed it himself.

Because in the world of the supernatural where different monsters each possessed their ability.

It definitely wouldn't be a problem for him to guess several other monsters that can recreate the terrible stench of a rotten corpse.

While ignoring the heavy stench that permeated the air, Lucien went on to trace the origin as he was sure that it will lead him to what he wanted to know.

But it didn't take that long for him to find what he has been looking for.

After moving through the corridor and arriving at a huge room that looked like a dining hall, Lucien walked closer to inspect but still, he kept his mind and body ready and alert for any threat that he might encounter.

And although it was said that only B-class ghouls were currently occupying this abandoned building, he still didn't let his guard down because yesterday, something or someone had made him lose his memories.

And although he didn't like to brag that much, as a soon-to-be-promoted A-ranked huntsman, handling 15 B-Class ghouls would be nothing more but child's play as he also had his weapon with him.

But yet, contrary to his expectations, he had failed the mission.

If it was an ordinary task, then Lucien would have just sat back and let the organization do their work, but this was a task that was related to his promotion as an A-ranked huntsman.

And he was sure that there was no way in hell that he would screw up such an important task that meant so much to him.

So for him to have failed this task, meant that there was something that happened yesterday that was well above his capabilities.

So he wouldn't just believe that he failed his task that easily but there was something that happened here yesterday night that he has no memory of.

And as for whether he did attack those other huntsmen, the truth will come out sooner than later.

On the floor close to the dining chair laid a rotten corpse. The body looked as though it had been scorched to death by fire.

Yet the floor around it said otherwise as there were no burnt marks on it.

The hand of the corpse was ripped off in two as the decayed arms laid close to the body as though they had been placed there by someone else.

At the centre of the head lay a bullet hole. A hole that was wide enough that a hand could fit through it.

'Sure enough, this was down by my bullet' Lucien thought as he placed his hands in the gaping hole and brought out a very familiar bullet that could only be shot by his very own personal gun -the Desert eagle 64 ME.

And no, the gun had nothing to do with the famous Desert eagle pistol. The only reason it was called the Desert eagle 64 ME was because the physical design is the same as the colt 357 revolver but with an 8-inch barrel.

So he named it that way as he couldn't think of any other name at that time.

And besides, the name makes the weapon looks more sophisticated even though it's totally different and more of a beast than the weapon it was modified from.

Only that type of gun could cause a powerful damage such as this. But still, there was something that made him frown.

The bullet that he found in its head was an explosive bullet. A bullet he was sure that he wouldn't use when dealing with B-class ghouls.

Because monsters vary in strength the same a normal human can be five or ten times stronger than another human being.
