Finding the perpetrator

And also the existence of mana which amplifies their strength several times more made them more dangerous and complicated to deal with.

But one thing that still stays the same is their powers and abilities.

Except that even though a C-Class ghoul can have the same ability as an A-class ghoul, the abilities of an A-class monster would be many times stronger and more developed than that of a C-class or a B-class ghoul.

But the thing is that the reports said that there were only 15 B-class ghouls nearby and although the reports of the organization might be wrong at times, considering that they dealt with monsters whose thoughts are vastly different from that of human beings.

And even though they did try their best to look like one of us, it still didn't make sense as even an A-class ghoul wasn't enough to give him a temporary concussion or make him lose his memories.

He only used ordinary mana empowered bullets when dealing with monsters, because that was enough to heavily injure them.

But the thing is that his explosive bullets were also enough to one-shot an A-class ghoul, or severely burn and incapacitate a B-class ghoul like the burnt rotten corpse on the ground.

Putting his hands on top of the corpse as his hands hovered around it, Lucien distinctively felt the mana signature the corpse was given off as he tried to judge its rank.

'Sure enough, this is a B-class ghoul' Lucien thought as he walked over to the other remaining corpse littered around and did the same thing.

And to his surprise, apart from the corpse with an explosive bullet in its body, there was one more which had a gaping while in its stomach.

Now they were two explosive bullets in two dead B-class ghouls.

But what Lucien wanted to know at the moment was what had made him use two explosive bullets.

Explosive bullets were vastly different from mana empowered bullets because he literally has to pay the organization to manufacture such bullets for him.

And unlike the mana empowered bullets that were given to him by the organization for free, the explosive bullets came from his pockets, and that was why he didn't always use them except for serious confrontations, and when he has no other choice than it.

So the fact that he had used two explosive bullets on two B-class ghouls made him conclude that he might have encountered something very dangerous at that moment for him to pull the trigger.

Counting the number of corpses littered around in total, there were 17 bodies, 11 of which were ghouls, and the other 7 belonged to humans.

Four of them looked like ordinary civilians, and the other two were policemen, according to the uniform they are putting on.

"Sign!!... This means that I didn't also fail on my promotional task, but I also failed to protect these people" Lucien said as he closed his eyes in pity and self-blame after looking at the several corpses.

'And it looks like they didn't have a painless death either' Lucien thought as he looked at the disfigured bodies of the corpses whose necks were either ripped off or twisted to the side while he thought of many other monsters that could do this.

Vampires, werewolves, day goblins, lizardmen, gargoyles, etc.....

They were many other monsters that could kill a human by ripping their limps apart, and some can even go as far as consuming them whole.

But as far as those longs list of monsters are concerned, these are the most popular and the most likely that he has encountered when dealing with cases like this.

Nevertheless, whether it was a ghoul or some other monster that did this. He will soon find the ones that are responsible for it.

"Sorry officer, I am going to use this for now," Lucien said as he removed a gun from the clenched hands of the dead policeman.

Although the gun isn't as good as his own, it's still manageable considering that he currently has no way to launch a long-range attack. So at least he could manage these for now.

Going through the dead officer's duty belt, Lucien was fortunate enough to find a magazine.

Quickly putting both the Beretta J9 and the magazine under his clothes, Lucien closed the dead officer's eyes as he said "May your soul rest in eternal peace".

The dead officer's eyes which showed the horrifying wide-eyed expression on his face before his death were now closed as he now laid in peace.

Moving on to the other dead policeman, Lucien did the same thing as he was fortunate enough to find another gun and magazine which he immediately kept hidden under his clothes too.

As he was about to stand up, Lucien noticed a personal radio transmitter laying under the disembodied arm of the policeman.

Removing the arm as he held the device tightly in his hands, Lucien choose to play the last recorded voice in it.

"Where is that button?" Lucien said as he seemed to have forgotten the right button to press.

He wasn't a policeman by the way, so it took him some time before he could hear a shaken and terrified voice coming from the device.

"Help!!!… Helppp!!…" Lucien quickly turned off the personal radio transmitter as soon as he turned it on.

The voice he heard wasn't the voice of a man who was asking for backup after he had encountered a strange enemy, instead, it was one of terror, disbelief, and fear of the unknown.

And it didn't take a genius to put the clues together and conclude that the monster that have attacked these humans was the monster that made him lose his memories.

Because as far as he was concerned, there was no way he couldn't finish off a group of B-class ghouls before they laid their hands on anyone of their bodies.

But it was too late now, they are all dead already.
