Catching feelings

Debbi brought out her phone and faked a call

"Hello mom, what? I can not come home now, I told you I went to Damien's house, mom but! Alright I would be home" she pretended to say all those words

"Your mom?" Damien asked "yes, does this woman not know the right time to disturb somebody" Debbi could not believe she was lying so freely

"She asked you to come home?" Lucas asked "yes" Debbi replied as she stood up to leave

"I am sorry I can not stay any longer" Debbi pretended to be hurt that she was leaving "oh it's nothing Debbi, we would celebrate it at school," Damien said causing Debbi to smile, a smile that did not touch her eyes.

She managed to leave the house without bursting into tears, her eyes were giving her the warning signal that she could not hold back the tears.

She took a cab back home, all the way she kept on thinking about how stupid she was, she never saw this coming her way. The cab pulled up in front of her house

"Ma'am" the chauffeur called her attention "oh sorry, I was lost" Debbi apologized before paying him off.

She entered her house and went straight into her room, she removed her clothes and soaked herself in a warm bath. Her mind flashed back to what happened back at Damien's house, she could not just wrap her head around things.

Deborah Alexander was the last child of the Alexander family, she had two elder siblings, brothers precisely. She was the only daughter of the family. Her mother moved to the states when she was three because of better job opportunities, leaving their father in London where he worked as a personal assistant to a big businessman. Her mother was a chef as she worked for hotels in the area.

She met Damien when she was five and both of them became best friends, really close friends, they shared everything they had and people thought they had feelings for each other but Damien bluntly denied it and claimed they were just friends.

Even though Damien's parents were more wealthy than Debbi's, it did not affect their friendship, their friendship grew so much that their families became friends, Damien's parents offered Lilian a job to work with them in a big restaurant of theirs and paid her well. They went to the same primary school, high school and now the same college. All this while Debbi was catching feelings for Damien and hoped that one day he would agree that he had feelings for her.

But that day never came, she had waited for him all her life, even refusing all the offers from handsome dudes who asked her out, she never thought that Damien would have the guts to take another girl as his girlfriend

His voice reverberated in her head as tears flowed down her face, her eyes were all swollen as she cried silently, how would she cope with this new development. She did not know where to start.

She finally came out of the bathroom and slid into a pair of pyjamas, she sat on the bed, holding the pillow firmly.

"Debbi" Lilian's voice filled the air as she came in "what happened? You look down" she continued as she examined Debbi's face

"Mom it is nothing," Debbi said, looking anywhere but her "sweetheart, you know you can always count on me, I am your mother" Lilian added, sitting on the bed beside her

"I said it is nothing" Debbi's voice was getting a little bit harsh "you do not want to talk about it right?" Lilian asked "yes" came Debbi's short answer

"It is okay, if you want to talk about it, I would be there waiting for you, in the meantime, you would join me to prepare dinner, Franklin and Trevor would soon be back," Lilian said

"Mom you know I hate being in the kitchen," Debbi said, "your mom is a great cook, why do you not learn from her?" She asked getting off the bed

"I am not joining you, mom," Debbi told her "young lady, I need you in the kitchen now" Lilian was no longer joking, it was time to get serious

"Mom, I said I am not coming" Debbi did not change her mind, "no dinner for you" Lilian stated leaving her room.

Silence reigned in the room the moment her mother left, her mind going back to what Damien said 'seriously? Damien and Aimee, together?' It must be a joke, like a real joke

It was no joke as she saw what was flooding on Facebook, Aimee had already posted her relationship with Damien online, they must be kidding her. She read the comments and saw a lot of congratulations, tears were threatening to fall from her eyes

"Debbi, what is up," Franklin asked as he jumped on the bed, cupping her face with his hand

"Hi big bro" Debbi greeted "you look down," Franklin asked while he scanned her face

"Big bro Trevor, Debbi looks sad, did you do anything wrong to her?" Franklin asked Trevor "What happened?" Trevor asked Debbi, he looked at her face, concern written over their face

"I know what is wrong with her," Franklin said "what?" Trevor asked "Damien asked Aimee out and now they are together" Franklin stated causing Debbi to blink at him

"Am I lying?" Franklin asked, one of his eyebrows raised
