Once your best friend

"Are you going to the party, Debbi?" Steph asked as they walked to the cafeteria "no hell way, I am not going to Damien's house, never!" Debbi exclaimed nodding her head in disagreement

"It is a party Debbi, trust me it is going to be fun and your last time with your classmates" Steph added

"The school would arrange a more decent graduation for us, so do not bother yourself" Debbi started pulling out a chair for herself in the cafeteria

"It is not going to be as wild and hot as Damien's" Steph argued causing Debbi to sigh, "Damien is my past now and…"

"That is the more reason you should attend, if you do not come he would think that you are still ashamed to face him, you have to be strong Debbi," Steph said

"There is no way I am going to Damien's house, do you know the last time I visited he asked me to get out, that is a big disgrace to me baby girl," Debbi said

"Oh come on! It is a party, everyone is invited and that is not excluding you" Steph was exhausted by her friend's stubbornness, she wanted to go to the party and have fun but she can not go without Debbi.

She knew it was going to be tough convincing Debbi, for the past six months they had been friends she noticed one thing about Debbi, once she made up her mind there is no going back

She needed Debbi to follow her but as the saying goes 'you can drag a horse to the stream but you can not force it to drink water. Debbi was buying some food from the canter while Steph was cracking her head to make her friend follow her to the party

An idea hit her, it was not that good but she had to try it anyway, it was the only plan she could think of, quickly she stood up and left the cafeteria

"Damien" Steph was panting when she approached Damien, she searched him everywhere in the school only to find him in a random and empty class with his friend Lucas

"Stephanie?" Damien's voice was questioning, they were never on talking terms so Stephanie looking for meant something important right?

"Damien," she said as she steadied her breathing "yes" Damien answered "I need your help" she added causing Damien to look at her suspiciously

"Stop looking at me that way! Is it because I suddenly need your help right now that you are gawking at me awkwardly?" She was offended by his actions

"Well, you do not blame me for my actions, since my first year in college you have never talked to me talk less of seeking my help, it is quite baffling" Damien chuckled at the end of the statement

"It is my only option Damien and of course, if I had other alternatives I would never be here" Steph did not bother to hide her dislike for him anyways, they both knew they hated each other even though they smiled

"What do you need me for?" Damien asked looking back at his friend who was just listening to their conversation

"It is now you are behaving like a good boy" she added with a little shrug "I need you to personally invite Debbi to the party" she finally let out her reason for being here

Damien almost choked while drinking water, he glanced at Steph in confusion "excuse me?" Damien was startled

"You heard me" Steph did not bother to repeat herself "why should he invite her personally?" Lucas asked "you should mind your business Lucas" she warned and flew dagger eyes towards him

"Is she sort of a queen who I should invite personally?" Damien asked "Debbi is a queen of her own" Steph's reply made Damien laugh

"Really? How am I not even sure she sent you here?" Damien asked "she refused to attend the party with me and much plea and this is the only way I think that can make her come" Steph added

"And what makes you think I would invite her personally as you said?" Damien asked, "she was once your best friend since when you were little and your closest companion, for the sake of old times Damien!" She continued

"I am sorry Steph but I am not forcing anyone to attend, if she does not want to attend so be it" Damien finalized

"But she was a close…" Steph was cut short "with all due respect I have for you Steph, I am done with this particular conversation, any other thing?" He asked causing Steph to sigh in loss, this was tougher than she thought

She left the room feeling defeated, she walked back to the cafeteria, Debbi was sitting and busy with her phone

"Where were you?" Debbi asked looking up to gaze at her friend "somewhere" she replied shortly

"Is anything the matter?" Debbi asked noticing her grumpy mood "no" came her short reply again "Steph? Are you sure you are okay? You look down" Debbi asked

"Just follow me to the party, it would never hurt please" Steph pleaded "is it all about the party?" Debbi asked, a small smile on her beautiful face "yes" she replied

"Okay, I know you want to go to the party right?" Debbi asked and Steph nodded her head in agreement "I am not stopping you, you can go to the party without me, I would not hold grudges, do whatever you want" Debbi stated causing Steph to hiss

"Really? I should go to the party without you right? You think I am selfish to do that huh?" Steph asked, there was hurt in her tone "Steph, I did not mean to hurt you but I am telling you the truth, I would not hold grudges" the hurt in her voice did not go unnoticed by Debbi

"If you are not going then I am not" Steph stated looking anywhere but her. Debbi knew that her friend badly wanted to attend the party but for goodness' sake, she can not go to Damien's house, never! She had to think of a way to make it up to Steph

"Alright, how about we hang out tonight, go clubbing?" Debbi suggested but Steph was not interested

"If it is okay by you" she had to agree anyways "alright, I would promise you that it is going to be the most memorable event ever" Debbi promised "just watch and see" Debbi added

They ate their meal in silence until someone's voice echoed behind "Debbi, long time no see" he said "no, long time no talk because I have been seeing you since but not talking to you" his voice made her freeze

She turned to see him behind her, looking god dammed handsome as always, he had a smile on his face that made Debbi gulp

'What was the asshole doing here?' She asked inwardly. It was no other than Damien Parker.
