A Burning City

Botan has been leading the Mazoku and the Yakuza in assisting in rescuing the victims of the bombings and helping the authorities put out the fires. Although, most of the Yakuza were still wanted by the Japanese Police because of the hostage-takings, and attempted escape plan they had three days ago. But back then no actual civilians or hostages were killed because of Yuri's intervention.

Now, the whole city of Tokyo is burning and firemen couldn't run inside burning skyscrapers like the Mazoku, and the Police couldn't lift heavy debris trapping people like the Yakuza supplied with Magitek.

When everything had calmed down, and the fires were manageable by the authorities, Botan called all his men to the Domain Company Building. After they had assembled.

Botan stood on the topmost of the stairwell, in front of the Domain Building, with the three Yakuza clan leaders, and three of the Mazoku's chosen commanders.

Botan wore a fully customized Lesser Magitek Samurai Armor that Yuri had designed for him this morning and that he was itching to use as soon as possible.

His main weapon was Brass Knuckles embedded with an HP to MP converter that automatically charged upon his activation. And when he would combined the two knuckles, they would mechanically merge to become a large shield, that he could use to charge against a long-range enemy.

Sebastian remained inside the building, to keep their stockpile of weapons and processed mana safe. But he was still assisting Botan remotely.

The Mazoku were on the right side of the parking lot, numbering about 3000 members. All of them were mobilized this day, to monitor the EDEN Jihadists, as such many had come prepared and excited to use their newfound power.

The core group of the Mazoku is about 200 Martial Artists, Coaches, and Athletes, who then invited their gyms, students, and friends to join, promising them the power of the magic weapons. As for their loyalty, they feared the Overlord and knew of his reputation and power, but many had joined because of personal reasons, some needed the power to exact revenge, and others were glad to be able to help those who were vulnerable and weak.

Though the Mazoku did not have proper organization, their close-knit personal ties, and shared ideals would give them enough solidarity, and seeing the giant Botan as their leader was not a problem for them.

10,000 strong Yakuza members lined up in front of Botan, who was now the new head of their unified organization under the Overlord. Also mobilized by Shigeo, Yakushimaru, and Takishima to monitor the EDEN Jihadists. The rest of their men stayed in their territories in case, they were needed there.

The Yakuza were a different breed than the Mazoku. Though exhibiting a sense of pride in their preserved principles and self-proclaimed honor in helping the weak and fighting the strong, they were all violent men. With criminal pasts and dark beginnings. Whether their impoverished lives and abusive childhood environments were the cause for their underground lives, they all had one thing in common. The Yakuza's blood oath of allegiance. And anyone who does not understand the underlying truth of their oaths was not true Yakuza.

Shigeo Nishigumi who was head of the Sumiyoshi-kai had 3000 of the Yakuza, ready at his command.

Yakushimaru Nobuyoki who was head of the Inagawa-Kai also had 3000 of the Yakuza who would die for their leader because of how much they believed in him.

And Takishima Keishi, Botan's father and head of the Yamaguchi-Gumi, the biggest Yakuza clan, had 4000 Yakuza strong, ready to obey their master's command.

When all the leaders had reported that their men have arrived, Botan looked up at the building, as a signal to Sebastian to begin scanning all of their warriors.

Botan then began his speech.

"MAZOKU! YAKUZA! ARE YOU NOT GRATEFUL?"

"HAIL THE OVERLORD!" they all shouted. Their shouts ringed the whole business avenue, with peeking civilians curious about their meeting.

"ARE YOU NOT STRONG?" he shouted with his everything, his voice started to roughen.

"HAIL THE OVERLORD!"

"THEN ARE YOU NOT JAPAN'S NEW KATANA?"

"HAIL THE OVERLORD!" they again shouted.

Many civilians had called the police out of fear, but when the police heard of what the problem was, they would promise that they would arrive. But none of them did. They had seen the strength of the magic that the demons of the Overlord had, and knew they were powerless against them. Only the Japanese Self-Defense Forces would be able to fight them, valuing their lives and family more, the Director General of the Police, escalated the concern to the National Diet. But most of them were dead already as they were killed by the Bedlam Mercenaries at the palace, even the Emperor was missing. Only the Japanese Self-Defense Forces Command was left in power and their only hope.

Botan then calmed down.

"The EDEN Jihadists have betrayed us! They have planted three nuclear bombs in three parts of Tokyo secretly, but we have captured one of them and have found their locations. Only you can save this city."

Botan paused and pointed at the group.

"These Jihadists are reminding our nation of our shameful past! Of being fucked as our governments are toppled. Of being humiliated, parading our parading soldiers as evil and vile men, and losing mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and friends, they have no selection on who they kill they achieve their victory, willing to destroy civilian cities and murder the innocents."

They all grew silent but a deep and hidden nationalism had been awakened within them, reminding them of Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

"KATANAS! ARE YOU DECORATION OR BRINGERS OF DEATH TO OUR FOREIGN INVADERS!!!"

The oldest one of the Yakuza, a veteran of World War II veteran, stepped forward, raised his katana, and shouted, "I… AM… THE DEATH-BRINGER!"

This inspired a raging riot among them, filled with passion and national pride, "DEATH-BRINGER!"

"DEATH-BRINGER!" they all shouted.

Sebastian continued to scan all of them from above.

Botan had already instructed the Mazoku and Yakuza leaders of the recently discovered locations and divided them into three groups to find the bomb and get rid of it.

"Then go forth and save our city!"

The leaders quickly went to their designated locations with their high-morale men and separated to find the bombs as soon as possible.

Shigeo's clan and Mazoku were to go to Minato-Ku, Tokyo.

Botan had told Shigeo that the bomb was inside one of the construction sites for the Hamamatsucho Shibaura 1 Chome Redevelopment.

Yakushimaru's clan and the Mazoku with them went to Minato City and were to go to the Shibaura Complex.

And Takishima's clan was to go to Edogawa-Ku, Tokyo. And were instructed to find the bomb in the Minamikoiwa District Urban Constructions.

These were the largest infrastructure projects in Japan. Shigeo instructed his men and the Mazoku to find the bomb as soon as possible. They believed that the EDEN Jihadists also wanted to destroy these projects to put damage the country's infrastructure power, and capitalize on them one day.

When Botan had received reports from the leaders that they were all there, he then said to all of them through their communication devices.

"Men! I have received news that the Bombs will go off in 3 Minutes. I command you to keep looking for them. Every second counts. If you do not find the bombs, millions of people will die. This is a sacrifice a true Japanese warrior would make for his country."

When the Yakuza and Mazoku heard of this, many of them strengthened their will and kept looking for the bomb.

But there was also a group among them, spread evenly who started to show concern and fear. They looked into each other's eyes and were looking for a mutual understanding that they should run, and just let the bomb go off.

Botan then continued and said, "Men! There are only 2 Minutes left. I command you to stay and die for your country, to the end, like true warriors!"

After Botan's message, a hundred of those who were struck with fear ran for their lives and headed for the Exits of the buildings.

Every building had only one Exit as the others seemed to be blocked.

Botan then said in his final message, "Mazoku! Yakuza! There is only one minute left. Will you dedicate this minute to finding the bomb and risking your lives for the country?"

In Minato-Ku, Minato City, and Edogawa-Ku, all the true Mazoku and Yakuza stayed and searched the buildings with all their strength.

And almost two hundred who ran for their lives and headed for the Exit at the last minute were surprised.

Botan was blocking the Exit in Minato-Ku.

Yuri was blocking the Exit in Minato City.

Sebastian was blocking the Exit in Edogawa-Ku.

It was a trap.

Yuri had realized that the Bedlam Inc Mercenaries could have taken advantage of the chaos and would start to infiltrate their ranks, and he was right.

Bedlam Doppelgangers had highly advanced impersonation technology, and even for Artificial Intelligence, it was impossible to find and single out all of them, and there possibly could have been traitors from the Mazoku who were there as spies or for the wrong reasons. Either way, they were enemies.

With Sebastian scanning all of their men, he was able to single out all the men who ran for the exit and cut them off from their main communication line, because he was watching with the Omnipresent Surveillance Capability.

Shigeo, Takishima, and Yakushimaru, then received new instructions to corner those who tried to escape and kill them.

Botan then said to all their men, "Men! How do you exterminate a snake infestation? You smoke them out!"

The Bedlam Mercenaries were trapped on both sides. Botan, Yuri, and Sebastian barricaded the Exit Doors with huge pieces of metal, mostly from crunched automobiles that were parked nearby.

When the Exits were now blocked, Yuri said, "Sebastian…" he smiled. "Turn off the lights."

Sebastian, who was controlling the whole infrastructure remotely, turned them off, and the Bedlam Mercenaries were trapped in darkness.

They were not prepared for what was to come.

The true Mazoku and Yakuza were then handed night vision goggles and they slowly moved towards the spies and infiltrators, inch by inch.

They were like the 300 Spartans, locked in their shields, with their swords, and spears reaching for the enemies' throats, and pushing the Persians to their deaths, one by one, succumbing to inevitable death, against an enemy they could not see.

"How the tables have turned…" Yuri thought while enforcing the barricades, and preventing the screaming invisible mercenaries.
