A National Pride

The Bedlam infiltrators only had Doppelganger devices with them. They were trapped in pitch-black halls with blocked exits. Their only way out is to go back against armies of bloodthirsty Mazoku and Yakuza, armed with defensive shields and spears, able to pierce them cleanly from a distance using their night vision. They tried to fight back and call for backup, but no one would be able to come to their aid in time. In their last desperate attempts to fight back, some rushed forward to the Mazoku shields and detonated the explosive molars embedded in their gums.

But all this was futile, as none of them could reach even a meter close to the flanks. The Mazoku would push forward, stepping on the dead Bedlam Mercenaries, and Yakuza would follow behind, finishing off any of them who still showed signs of life and preventing them from detonating their molars.

After ten grueling minutes of the pure massacre of their enemies, when the last Bedlam Mercenary who thought they would slowly destroy the demon lord's army from within died with his head sliced off while trying to find his enemies in the dark.

*SLASH!

His head fell on top of his fellow infiltrators. And his body rolled forward with his disguise flickering on and off, changing his appearance to random characters he had impersonated in the past.

Even then, AeroMage's Technology proved itself uncatchable, as all the devices on the Bedlam Mercenaries' bodies self-destruct automatically.

"That was the last one…" a Yakuza member said.

"We won!" another said.

"DEATH-BRINGER!" they all shouted.

After the Overlord's warriors had claimed victory, tanks rolled into the streets. Helicopters flew on top of the buildings, and thousands of Japanese Self-Defense Ground Forces surrounded them in each of their separate locations.

They all came to a standoff. Botan and Sebastian, were ordered by Yuri not to fight back and to fortify the construction sites they had taken.

The Japanese Air Self-Defense Forces had deployed Attack Helicopters to surround them and make sure none of them escaped the perimeter.

No one could come in, and no one could leave.

200,000 Japanese Soldiers were deployed to Tokyo by the Japanese Prime Minister as a response to the terrorist explosions, the attacks on the Imperial Palace, and the threat of the Demon Lord Army.

In Minato City, where Yuri had come to help his forces, he commanded the Mazoku and Yakuza to keep watch but not attack even if they fired, and wait for his command no matter what.

Yuri wearing his Dragon-form Exosuit again walked out of the Exit that they blocked earlier.

Japan was under martial law, and the country's government was in shambles. The Emperor and the Empress were missing, and half of the National Diet had been assassinated. The world was watching everything transpire that night.

When Yuri was now outside, a woman in glasses came out of a military armored vehicle. She wore military fatigue, and rank insignia with 3 stars and two lines at the bottom. She was a colonel and a field officer for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. While walking toward Yuri from a distance, you could still see her large breasts bounce with every step she took, her uniform was surprisingly tight for a field officer, and it emphasized huge hips and a slim waist.

Yuri was familiar with those measurements. There was only one woman in Tokyo with those exact measurements.

"Martha Akio?" Yuri exclaimed.

Martha approached Yuri proudly showing her uniform to him and smiling, letting him know she had the upper hand.

"Damn it… Sebastian… I should have checked the MORE INFORMATION option when I analyzed her."

Yuri spread his dragon wings to display his power before her.

"So you've come to finally betray me, Martha."

"Not at all, my Lord," she bowed.

"What do you mean? Explain!" Yuri said.

"I am Martha Akio. I was an undercover agent of the Intelligence Department of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. I was investigating the Yakuza who at that time, were reported to have purchased powerful magic weapons abroad."

"And you found me…"

"Yes, I did, my Lord. The Self-Defense Forces had been aware of and monitoring the supernatural events that had been happening all around the world, not just in Japan. Our top brass knew that a global shift in power would inevitably come because of these, but we were not able to find any supplier for these powerful magic weapons and equipment."

"So you've come to take ours, then…" Yuri added.

"Not at all, my Lord. The Overlord's popularity rose across the nation, restoring a national pride that was once lost, and reviving an ancient Japanese belief in Shintoism."

"Now… I understand."

"Yes, my Lord. What you are assuming is correct. Many of the Top Brass, saw this as an opportunity to restore the Japanese Imperial Power. And they have organized a military faction, that will begin a coup, in your name, my Lord."

After hearing all these, Yuri gave a huge demonic laugh, amplified by his Exosuit.

"You expect me to believe all this, Martha. After you have lied to me."

"I extremely apologize, my Lord for deceiving you. But it is only because we have suspicions that the Local Shaman is among your ranks."

"Is that so?" Yuri said. "If this is the case, then hear my declaration. Prove to me that you are on my side. Tell your brass this."

Yuri opened his hands wide.

"Bring me the Prime Minister and the rest of the National Diet, and I will acknowledge your allegiance to me!" he declared while staring at the camera, one of the soldiers was holding, which had sent a direct camera feed to where the Chief of Staff and the Join Staff were headquartered.

"As you wish, my Lord."

"What about the Imperial Family?" Yuri asked her.

"We have already sent a large number of forces to locate and rescue the Imperial Family, my Lord. But the enemy's abilities are too powerful, for our modern weapons and capabilities. I shall now take my leave, my Lord."

Yuri let her go, contacted Sebastian and Botan, and updated them on the situation.

"So there is a military Coup de tat happening now?" Botan said.

"It was inevitable from the start," the old Takishima said, listening on the call.

Yuri then said, "It seems that these Top Brass, are the same as you, Takishima. Old and obsolete, but still dreaming of a return of Japan's true power."

Takishima then laughed at his lord's joke and said, "Exactly as you say, my Lord."

Shigeo, who was also listening to the call asked, "What will be your plan concerning this local shaman, my Lord."

Yuri paused and watched while the Self-Defense Forces began to leave.

"We are now aware that it was one of Daizen's friends. He was a member of their little high school gang, but I never knew he was a hidden genius. He became powerful and rich because he had monopolized the market on this magic weaponry and equipment. We now also know he is the one who has hired the Bedlam Inc. Mercenaries to stop you, my Lord. His only competitor in the country."

Yakushimaru added, "My men say his name is Yukio Mishima. We will hunt him down, my Lord. And slaughter him, the same way we did all these weak, hired thugs."

"That's it for now," Botan said. "We have to regroup, and find a better stronghold, we must prepare for the Military Forces counterattack. Coup de tat or not, this is the right decision."

After giving it a considerable amount of thought, Yuri did not answer any of them. And left the call without saying a word.

Yuri then flew up one of the buildings. The smoke from the explosions had been followed up by the fire department. And he watched the sunrise from the East. "A secret genius, huh?" he thought to himself.

He remembered that day again, only about 18 days ago now. Not even 3 weeks. He and Gaia were walking along the road, two happy-go-lucky teenagers, going to college for the first time.

"A secret genius…" He pictured the last moments when he saw her alive. Daizen and his gang were grabbing her, while they were beating him up.

"This fucking secret genius… was one of them…"

Yuri then realized the connections. This Yukio Mishima, the local shaman, was the one that sent the assassin against Akira. The one that pits the Yakuza against him. The one that hired the Bedlam Mercenaries to kidnap Akira and Yuna, and kill him and his men. His blood boiled against the rising Japanese sun. And he declared to the highest of heaven and the deepest depths of hell.

"Yukio Mishima. You're dead."
