I wait anxiously on the beach for my father. I’m happy and scared for what’s about to come next. The boat I’ve docked rocks merrily unaware of the treasures in which I’ve found.
“Islet,.” calls Father. I turn to him and smile.
“Pa! You made it in one piece this time,” I say.
He runs down the beach like a big child waving the black and white papers.
“You’ll never believe it! I did it,” he says. His big, burly arms scoop me out of the sand and swing me around in the ocean air.
“What? What did you do?” I ask him. I step in front of the boat in an attempt to block it from view.
“I got the king to put the party back on. You can go now, you can become a noble!” he shouts. Then he looks around, just as I do. When we’ve assured we are alone, he passes me the paper. Right there in the headline, it reads, ‘King Nicholas has stated the date for ascention is in two days time, held in the ballroom hall of the royal palace. To all those who are ascending, you are welcome.’
