For the past few days, I have been jumping to each task. I’ve been waiting for my father and Cerulean to stop by each day to show off the shop display or what I’ve been concocting inside my forest shack.
Both of them have been very supportive.
I keep thinking about Serpent’s Way. Because of the battles between Gorgon and their sister country after the treaty broke, there has been an influx in refugee arrivals. I’m so proud of Prince Cerulean for making a safe space for them here where they can get settled and call somewhere new, home.
I finish clipping my laundry to the clothesline while humming and thinking more than my current tasks requires of me.
An earthy scent trails downwind. I turn to see his familiar figure and feel his dominant presence.
“You look happy,” Cerulean says softly. His eyes smile for him, though I know he’s hiding something.
“Yes, even happier now that you are here.”
