I wait for Cerulean to wake while sitting in his office.
I lightly sketch new designs for jewelry. I’m not all too sure why I’ve become obssed with aminal shaped jewelry but I can’t wait to bring each piece to life.
“Hey,” Cerulean calls from the doorway of his bedroom. He sleepily rubs at his eyes.
“Hey, you,” I say and hop to my feet. He’s already dressed and ready to go, but his hair sticks up in all different directions.
I reach up on my tippy toes and smoothen out his hair.
“How’d it go?” he asks. The sleep vanishes from his face as he grows serious.
“It went well. We have your father’s blessing now.”
Cerulean smiles and pulls me into a tight hug. “I’m sorry you had to give up your livelihood for me.”
“It’s not just for you. It for…our kingdom.” I say and look down at my hands.
Cerulean rests his head on my shoulders. “Yes, our kingdom.”
We sit like that for a few minutes.
A knock sounds on the door. I go to move but Cerulean only clasps me tighter.
