“Damien? What on earth are you doing here?” Eshe’s voice comes up from behind him as she slowly approaches, exiting the bathroom.
“Ehse?!” Jumping to her, he embraces her in a stronghold, relief filling every sense upon feeling her safe within his arms. Confused, Eshe pats his upper arms, searching his eyes as he releases her.
“Aren’t you supposed to be at your mother’s?” She tilts her head, Damien’s hand quick to cup her cheek.
“I made a mistake. I left you behind, by mistake.” He kisses her forehead before hugging her again, delight in her smile as she hugs him back.
“Thank you,” she whispers, nuzzling his chest before breaking the hug and holding his hands.
“I actually wanted to talk to you about everything… I–.” Damien presses an index finger to her lips, an unwavering gaze capturing her pupils.
“What happened at your house?” She frowns and casts a downward glance, cupping the back of her neck.
