Chapter 35

Nimue, I thought, as I climbed down from my horse. I had seen her portrayed in several movies and read about the Lady of the Lake in various versions of King Arthur stories, but I didn’t recall any of them depicting her as black. Perhaps, when I got back, I would take up writing and shake up the world with my version of Camelot.

I sensed her magic, but I found her intriguing, beautiful, and exotic. Some of the stories said she was half fairy, while others depicted her as an enchantress. I could believe the latter because I found it very difficult to take my eyes off her until Margot cleared her throat.

I offered a hand to my fiancé and assisted her as she dismounted. I was about to introduce her to the legendary sorceress, but Nimue spoke first. “You are the Lady Margot of house D’airelle.”

Margot dipped a slight curtsy and replied cordially, “I am pleased to make your acquaintance.”
