Chapter 36

We spent most of the day riding in silence except for the minimal pleasantries when we broke for lunch. Margot seemed put out that Nimue invited herself to our little expedition. I think she was looking forward to a journey involving just the two of us. Personally, and was glad to have an actual sorceress accompany us. Of course, this wasn’t a picnic or a lover’s holiday, but I knew better than to put it that way to my girlfriend.

We set up camp at nightfall near the caves, but not so close to alert Morgan. The spot we chose was in the trees to avoid detection from the air should the enchantress shift into her griffin form and patrol the area. Abstaining from building a campfire, we bedded down for the night.
