Chapter 47

We strode into the cool darkness of the cave. I had intended to light a torch, but the blue illumination from my spear was adequate and combined with Merlin’s glowing staff, we had more than enough light.

I proceeded forward, bold and wary. Morgan scared my bowels dry in her human, griffin, and dragon forms, and I wondered what other creatures she could become.

When I first came to this land, I didn’t believe such things were possible, but I certainly wouldn’t have considered approaching such extreme hazards without hesitation as I was now. I generally give thought to my actions, especially regarding my self-preservation. Now, however, I react to threats without thought, like a reflex when that danger jeopardizes the safety of others. I think my change stems from my combined experiences in ancient England and the obligation I took when King Arthur knighted me.

A thought occurred to me. “Hold on a moment. You can change into a blue dragon.”
