The woman came at Rory like flies to trash, buzzing around her before she had even stepped inside. She immediately recognized one of them. The gray haired woman was from the group of people who’d attempted to erase her memories.
Rory tried to calm her nerves as the women surrounded her, greeting her like old friends, hugging her and kissing her cheeks.
The gray haired woman held back, her cold glare freezing Rory to the spot. “Oh c’mon now ladies, give my future daughter-in-law some space.”
Rory blinked, trying to process the woman’s words. She took two calculated steps toward Rory and kissed her on both cheeks. “I’m Meredith, Micah’s mother. So lovely to finally meet you, Rory. Even though the whole world met you first.”
Micah appeared behind her. “Really, mother?”
The gray-haired woman leaned back and smiled at Micah. “Just stating the facts dear.”
Micah gave Rory a side hug. “I’m so sorry, they were not supposed to be here,” he whispered.
