Chapter 41: The Fiance

Heldon woke up in the late afternoon, lavished in the pressure of the warm arm holding him in place. The unfamiliar feeling of safety convinced the negotiator that he would never leave this bed. Then, a memory made a smile spread lazily across his face.

“What are you smiling about?” Tival asked, voice hazy with sleep.

“I remembered when I woke up in bed with you the first time,” Heldon yawned. “And I ran because I didn’t remember anything.”

Tival kissed his temple. “I didn’t know you didn’t remember. I thought you ran because my scars and tattoo scared you, or I didn’t mean anything,” The blond murmured.

Heldon shook his head.

“I liked you and thought I messed it up.” The negotiator said and Tival flexed his arm and tugged Heldon closer.

“Never. I liked you from the moment I saw you under that maple tree.” The bronze drampire murmured into Heldon’s ear, then shifted to get something.

Heldon turned and saw Tival dangle something shiny.
