Chapter 26: Dara

Tuesday night, Dara arrived to take the kids to the movies. "Have fun," her friend said, with twinkling eyes, and ushered the twins out the door.

"Thanks, I will," she said and hoped her smile didn't look as sickly as it felt. Nerves sent butterflies into her stomach. On top of that, her body couldn't decide if it was nervous, overheated, or desperate for Rafe.

Lindi took a taxi to the address Rafe gave her. His was one of a row of well-kempt buildings. Mostly glass and shining steel it was trendy, but she couldn't see herself and the twins here. Which was a rather telling sign. Maybe they just weren't meant to be together.

The building she entered had a foyer as sleek and modern on the inside. This building didn't suit Rafe either. Not the Rafe she knew five years ago anyway. He'd studied Finance while they were together, but she'd always thought he'd retire from basketball and manage his endorsements.
