Chapter 37: Admit you made a mistake

"They're not all men, and there's a room in my house set up and approved by the health department." The way he talked about it, you'd think she was a professional courtesan or something.

"I can give you money," he said.

And here we go again, she thought miserably. "Are you ready to admit you made a mistake, that the twins are yours?"

He hesitated.

Pain, which was physical, flashed through her, and she had to say, "I didn't think so." It hurt, even after all this time; it hurt that he still believed she'd been with another man while she was engaged to him. She put down her napkin and stood. "Will you show us the farm?" She might as well enjoy the time she had left with him. Because until he admitted that he should've trusted, that he didn't love her five years ago, they had no future.

He nodded, clearly relieved to get off the subject. "I'll get the jeep while you round up the twins."
