He shrugged. "If I try to crouch down too long or sometimes when I play, I feel it, but most of the time, I don't even notice that I'm injured."
"I'm glad," she said softly. She didn't like the idea of him hurt.
They spent the day helping the kids feed the animals, and they all played basketball after lunch. By dinner, they were relaxed again. When he took her hand and led her to his bedroom, she didn't protest.
Lindi turned her back, and Rafe pulled down her zipper. She smiled at him over her shoulder. "I love the way you do that?"
"Pull down your zipper?"
"Yes, but you always caress my skin with your knuckles, and it drives me wild."
"Good to know." He pulled down her dress and leaned down to kiss her naked shoulder. She shivered, suddenly afraid. This was too perfect; the last time they'd been this perfect together, everything had blown up in her face.
"Something wrong?" he asked with his lips against her skin, moving to kiss her neck.
"No, a dog walked over my grave."
