Chapter 47: A Lawyer

"If you ever want to get back to being a lawyer, I'll make it happen," he promised her.

She nodded. "I know, in a few years, I'll probably take you up on that. But for now, the children need me, need us to be hands-on."

He couldn't wait to have the children and Lindi with him every day. "So, when do we have this test done?" he asked her.

She sighed. "The sooner the better. You have no idea how fixated they can be once they decide on 'learning' something."

"On the contrary, I have a very good idea," he said with feeling. He had the repair receipts for the limo and the plane to show for that.

Rafe got on the phone and organized a consultation with a private clinic. He disconnected and went to find her in the kitchen. He took up a dishtowel and dried the dishes she washed. "They can see us this afternoon. I have a friend who pulled some strings for us."
