Chapter 23: A week later

That had been a week ago. Each night he slept alone, outside the door of their sleeping place. She rose early each morning and said her prayers and then joined him for what he called 'first meal'.

The first morning she'd risen, and the door had opened as if he knew she was awake. He'd stared at her and then grunted something, and another part of the wall slid open to reveal another room. "I will show you how the bathroom works, my breeder." He'd said it with a strange air of anticipation.

She'd been hesitant to enter the mysterious room, wary of the air of anticipation he had. But instead of showing her something evil or hurting her, he'd introduced her to something wondrous: a garderobe so large twenty women could fit in it. It smelled fresh and clean, and she clasped her hands together when he showed her how to use the silver cylinder rising out of the floor.
