In medieval France, Melisende, a noble woman, is kidnapped from her wedding by a strange being who claims to be a warrior from the stars. But after this sexy warrior shows her wondrous things like computers and synthesizers, Melisende's not so sure she wants to escape her alien captor.

He put a small silver bowl and matching jug on the table and sat down next to her. He pushed the bowl forward. "Add some sugar." 


Excited at the chance to experience something new, Melisende took the sparkling silver spoon, made with amazing craftsmanship, and pushed it through the fine white powder in the bowl. "I've heard of sugar, but I've never seen it." It was expensive and hard to come by, but more and more people talked about having tasted it, and she'd been curious. "How much should I put in?" She'd never thought the sugar would look like this. It was made up of delicate, sparkling little grains. She'd heard it was coarse-looking but sweet to the taste.


"Put in one spoonful at a time until you reach your preferred taste."


Melisende put in five spoonfuls before she decided she'd found the way she liked this wondrous coffee brew.


Zain pushed the milk toward her. "Add milk."
