In a distant, unknown area within God's Sanctum, there was a massive gathering of many ferocious magic beasts. All these beasts belonged to different races, and one could even see that races that did not usually get along were suddenly sitting beside each other with no signs of hostility.
All these beasts were gathered here not for themselves, but because they did not have a choice. They had not willingly traveled an immense distance, leaving their homes and safety, only to arrive here and sit beside their enemies.
No, this was all the will of someone else.
This immense gathering of beasts numbered in the millions, but even then, there were no signs of a ruckus.
At the forefront of this massive gathering, seven beings that were wreathed in shadows stood, facing the beasts. A strange, ethereal aura hung around them that forced the submission of the beasts. These beings were formless, the shadows that made up their beings constantly changing and warping, as if they were not actually there.
After waiting for an unknown period of time, the seven beings suddenly experienced a change. Their formless bodied began to coalesce together, until four humanoid forms, and three beastly forms had replaced the ethereal shadows.
The seven beings bowed, with their heads almost touching the ground, before a seemingly empty space. At that moment, the space before them suddenly began to bend and warp. A white glow appeared, flickering in place for a few moments, before expanding vertically until it was three and a half meters tall, and then two meters wide.
From within the white portal, a being clad in pitch black armor stepped out, his form imposing and oozing danger. Shadows leaked out from the gaps in his armor, which were basically just the skull shaped designs that adorned his shoulders, knees, and chest.
"Great Destroyer!" The seven beings that were bowing yelled at the same time, their voices far reaching.
The armor clad man, the 'Great Destroyer', looked at the seven beings one by one, taking in their forms.
"Well done, my loyal servants. You have managed to open a gateway to receive me." The being spoke slowly as his eyes moved from the seven to the army behind them.
"Are these supposed to be my forces?" He asked and the seven beings froze.
"Yes, Your Excellency." One of the seven beings, a humanoid with two horns, two feathered wings, and a spike tipped tail eventually spoke up. He stood at nearly three meters in height, the tallest among the group of seven.
"Too lacking!" The Great Destroyer grunted, and his voice resonated within the ears of the seven before him, causing them so much internal turmoil that blood of different colors began to drip from their orifices. "I will give you a month more. Gather as many beasts as you can to attack." He said. His voice brooked no argument as he turned back to the slightly unstable gateway portal. His passage had caused it some turbulence. He raised a hand and the instability instantly disappeared.
"Nordrik! Return to my domain and fetch my Army of Destruction. Let the weaker ones among them pass first to maintain the stability of the gateway." He turned to an octopus looking creature that was one of the seven before him. The octopus bobbed up and down to show its acknowledgement before hurrying through the gateway.
After seeing Nordrik vanish through the gateway, the Great Destroyer turned around and looked at the army of millions once again.
"Mustafa, come here." He spoke. A black scaled, feline creature stepped forward, stopping a few meters before the Great Destroyer.
"What is your will, Your Excellency?" The being's voice was hoarse and rough, unlike what one would expect from such a graceful looking creature.
"Lead a hundred thousand shadow beasts to conquer the Northwestern region. Build a stronghold there and turn those who reside there into my worshipers. If they resist, kill them without any mercy." He told the feline creature.
"Your will shall be done." Mustafa bowed its front body low, before backing off, turning away, and vanishing in a cloud of shadows.
The Great Destroyer thought a bit more before turning around to face the setting sun.
"All that hassle thousands of years ago, and you have passed. I am still here, old foe, and there is no one to stop me now." He spoke to the distance and opened his arms wide. "Did you leave an inheritor? Someone to carry on your pathetic legacy? If you did not, then I am afraid the world you fought so hard to protect will soon be consumed by my shadows..." He trailed off, took in a deep breath, and let it out, wisps of shadowy smoke leaking from the gaps of his helmet that covered his head.
Thunder and lightning rumbled and struck in the distance in response to his words, as if the world itself was warning him to respect the status quo.
It was too bad he never intended to listen...
.
.
In a very distant place from where the Great Destroyer was summoned into the world, in a hidden temple sat a lone statue.
The statue depicted a bearded man with a pointy hat atop his head, and a mage staff in his hand. His staff was pointed up into the air, and his stony eyes gazed afar.
All of a sudden, a flash of light passed through the stony eyes, and a deep sigh echoed through the dark temple.
"Once again, Chaos rises to oppose Order. The Great Destroyer has been summoned from beyond the Void, and he will not rest till the world in destroyed. He must be stopped, but a worthy hero must rise to bear this burden. Does this current generation hold such a hero...?"
That wide, old voice rang through the massive temple, running through the halls, and through the labyrinths that ran under the temple. Various points of the temple glowed brightly in a holy, white color, and a white shadow flashed from the eyes of the statue before the dark temple returned to its peaceful and serene appearance.
