The 4th Auxilia Hunter

The 4th Auxilia Hunter Division of the Bright Republic's Mech Corp is very special, they don't have any specialized martial strength, they also don't have any specific role in any battle they participated in. But they are also known as the most active Division of the Mech Corp, they participated in almost all big and small battles of every Bright-Vesia wars while the number of skirmishes are uncountable.

Consist of 5 regiments: the 1st Starburst Hunter acted as the main body, the 2nd Starlight Chaser, the 3rd Stardust Ranger, the 5th Moonlight Catcher and the 7th Asteroid Slinger, they have more ships, mechs and servicemen than any other Divisions of the Mech Corp. They are also rich, fielding 5 fleet carriers including a special deep strike fleet carriers is just one proof. They also employ mercenaries to accompany them in various operations. They have such luxurious assets and spending not because they are allocated ample funding from the Mech Corp though, among the 6 Divisions of the Mech Corp they receive the least funding, well, just a tiny bit more than the notorious 6th Flagrant Vandals, it just that the 4th is just too damn good at making money.

As they usually deployed as escorts, supports and reinforces to other Divisions, they long mastered the act of demanding concessions from their "client" Divisions, from the rights to battlefields' salvages to privately re-locate funding and assets. "The odd jobs handler" also take on other mundane tasks like patrolling borders and trade lanes, pirate hunting or even conducting raids on the border systems of the Vesian and other neighbors of the Bright Republic.

Aside from the 6th, they are the second most active outside the Republic's borders, and if the 6th Flagrant Vandals usually compared to 'pirates' then the 4th are perfectly fitted with the definition of 'Mercenaries' and in fact most of veterans after retired from active duty would banded together to form various Mercenary Outfits or joined established ones affiliated to the 4th.

Being the most active Division in every wars and not to mention various operations they took on have it downside though, the casualties they suffered are much more than other Divisions, statistics show that the 4th have an average casualty rate of more than sixty percent in every Bright-Vesia Wars and annual casualty rate of three percent in peace time. Their high casualty rate coupled with the Mech Corp inefficient replenishment rate force them to find other ways to replenish their ranks, one such solution is the Auxilia Pilot school.

As a mean for the 4th to find potential recruits, the Auxilia Pilot school is funded by the 4th and can be compare to that of a boot camp and rightly so as all of its instructors, trainers and other faculty are veterans from the 4th, they also use military grade mechs as training tools which sometime raised questions about the safety for their trainees. Unlike other piloting school where young potentates slowly learn to pilot mech and wait for scouts from many organizations to approach them, the Auxilia Pilot school train their potentates in a militaristic way. The first thing waiting for new students are not basic lessons about piloting mech but actual militaristic discipline and unit cohesion trainings, any quarrels and rule violations are settle with military punishments. Due to their military standard trainings, graduates from here all have good discipline and much better skills than other schools and they usually immediately recruited into the 4th or organizations affiliated to them.

Even though the harsh and somewhat questionable about safety of the school's trainings deterred many parents from sending their child to this school, but there's never shortage of potentates attending here. The veterans and serving Hunters have the traditions of sending their offspring here, the school also take in many orphans, mostly offspring of the 4th's deceased servicemen. The immediate enlisting into the 4th upon graduation also entice many potentates with military career aspirations.

Due to their close relationship with the 4th, even though the Auxilia Pilot school still have some mandatory basic lessons about piloting light and heavy mechs but they mostly skewed toward the 4th's mech doctrine by training their trainees with all kind of medium weight class mechs. Rarely there is any schools, even in 2nd rate states, would let their trainees train with military grade mechs like this school. They have various types of medium weight mechs available for training, mostly decommissioned mechs used by the Mech Corp, captured mechs from the Vesian or other states and organizations, even some exotic ones that rarely seen in 3rd rate states.

At the Auxilia Pilot school main training field.

About four hundreds kids, precisely four hundreds and twelve, are having their welcome. A fierce looking man with a long scar that run from his forehead all the way to his right jaw is stepping up, with twenty other fierce looking men surrounding them.

"Welcome to the Auxilia Pilot school. I'm you head instructor Stan Armstrong. Don't think you can enjoy your little privilege here like when you are outside. At this place we are expecting you to follow the rule and meet our standards. Any rule breakers will be given corporal punishment. DO YOU HEAR ME?"

"Yes." "I understand." "Isn't it too harsh?."

"HERE WE EXPECTING YOU TO FOLLOW ORDERS, WE HAVE NO PLACE FOR SISSY HERE. YOU ONLY ANSWER WITH YES OR NO, AND END WITH SIR!!! NOW DO YOU HEAR ME?"

"Yes Sir!" "Yes Sir!" "Yes Sir!" "Yes Sir!"

"Good. Now start by running around this field. 5 laps. RUN."

"Yes Sir!"

Even though many of them wanted to complain but the fierce looking instructors deterred from raising their concerns. As they also have a brief introduction about this place they know that it's useless to complain anyway.

'Wow, this place is really harsh huh, such a warm welcome too. You couldn't believe this is how they welcome new trainees, and they are only 10 years old kids too. The 4th are really crazy and hard liner, they are the perfect example of "Societal Revival Theory". I have some doubts about their backer now, that must be some hundreds years old monster like Camden Tovar. They even have military grade mechs as training mech. Even the Larkinson Clan in the novel isn't this extreme.'

'Luckily I already raised my Endurance to 2.0 so these type of physical training won't tired me out too much. And this is also my opportunities, not only the graduates here have discipline and cohesion, I also have chances to play around with military grade mechs much earlier than expect.'

As Kira doing his welcome training, he doesn't know that his performance was already noticed by the instructors.

"Hey that kid is good, he look fine even after 3 lapses."

"What is his name, such good seeding."

"Let's see, his name is..... Kira Larkinson."

"Oh, a Larkinson, no wonder."

"Damn it, not any Larkinson, it's old colonel Jonathan's grandson."

"What, Captain Roland's son? I served in the 3rd under him."

"Woa, his aptitude is Grade B, the Larkinson really give birth a lot of monsters."

"Haha, like father like son, let's train him to the best of our abilities."

"Damn, isn't his cousin, Captain Patrick's son is attending here too?"

"Right, that is Athrun, that one is another monster too with grade B+ aptitude."

"Ya, he is only fourteenth and already completed all mandatory basics training. We are already allow him to start training with military grade mech now."

"These two are going to make their name known soon, don't they?"
