Chapter 22

Obaa Yaa could not hide her joy when she saw Asabea. The few chores she had to finish felt like a feather; sweeping the bedroom, laying the beds and rearranging the doormats on the floor. It was the happiest moment in her life; to see Asabea with her suitcase coming to join her permanently. Enlivened, her hopes brought alive once again, Obaa Yaa embraced her so tightly as if she would disappear at any moment. Helping Asabea with her bag, she and the other children leapt for joy. There would be no lights out for them this night.

" Alright children, sufficient unto the day..."

" Awwwww......" they climbed down Asabea's bed, disgruntled as her bedtime story came to an end abruptly.

" I thought I'd never see you again," said Obaa Yaa.

" We would have visited you from time to time. We will never leave you alone. With this opportunity, I'm so glad I can see you every day too.

" Are you going to be like my real mother?"
