Eliane

School was finally out and David was taking me home. The day was long and I wanted to make some coffee and curl up with a good book. David wanted to go to his house first and then stay over at mines. Of course I wasn't going to tell my mom about him staying over, we would just have to be careful not to get caught.

Once we got to David's house, he invited me in. His house was like a hall of memories. It ranged from baby pictures, to him being in Boy Scouts, to basketball, to high school. He smiled in every picture. Some of them he wouldn't be alone in. He would have a few boys in different pictures and it seemed like they were very close.

"My rooms right this way." We walked upstairs and I couldn't help but notice the lack of framed pictures on the walls. Maybe it was just because these were the stairs. I don't know. We don't have any pictures up so I don't blame them. His room was the last down the hall and the one closest to the bathroom.

"I know it's a little messy." He trailed off. He opened the door and I saw a pile of clothes sitting on the floor. Well, it could've been worse.

"It's not that bad. It's just the clothes on the floor. It could've been pizza boxes, chicken bones everywhere, etc." he laughed and went to put the clothes into what I'm guessing is his laundry basket.

"You can go ahead and sit on the bed. I promise you it's clean." I put my bag on the floor next to my feet and sat down. His bed was firm but I could tell it was comfortable. I just wanted to lay back and look up at the ceiling.

"Do you think my moms gonna catch us?" He took a deep breath before answering.

"If we're not careful. My parents usually don't come into my room after 8:00pm. They're usually sleep, so I could just sneak out, and sneak into your window." Looking at him, I could see he was folding his clothes before putting them in the bag.

"It's gonna be boring at my house. There's nothing to do. All there is for entertainment is a tv and your phone." David turned around and looked at me.

"I'm sure we'll think of something. And if that was your way of trying to get me to back out of this, you gotta try a lot harder." And with that, he went back to packing. Making sure he had shoes, clothes, and his toothbrush.

This will be the first time someone has ever came to my house and I'm kinda excited. I don't want him to be bored and not want to be my friend anymore. So I'll just have to think of something fun to do. My phone went off and I grabbed it out of my pocket.

Mom: "Hi honey. I won't be home tonight. I have to stay at the office and make sure everything is straightened out. But I'll be back around 1 am. There's some money on the counter to order something to eat. Love you."

Me: "Ok. Love you too."

"That was your mom?" David asked and I could see that he was done packing.

"Yeah. She said that she's staying at work. She won't be home tonight. Probably around 1 am is when she'll be back. She left money on the counter to order something to eat." He just nodded his head and carried his bag. I went to grab mines from the floor when I noticed a notebook laying right next to it.

A part of me wanted to grab it and open it, but the other part of me knew better. This is not my home and I do not want to invade his privacy. I grabbed my bag and followed right behind him. Making sure to close the door, we walked down the stairs.

"Do you want some chips before we go?" David asked. We walked into the kitchen and I could see two bags of hot Cheetos on top of the fridge.

"Yeah." He grabbed them both down and held them out of me to hold. I carried them to the car while he locked the door. Once we got in, he opened his bag, and I opened mines.

"Some faygo pop would go good with these chips right now." I looked over at David and saw him just throwing the chips in his mouth.

"I haven't had pop in years." I looked at the rear view mirror and saw that same truck that was behind us when we had went to Taco Bell. Maybe it was just a coincidence. I hoped it was.

"Elaine." I looked at David and he had worry written over his face.

"Are you ok?" I was confused.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He started the car and backed out of the driveway.

"It was like you were zoned out. I called your name twice. You just kept staring at the rear view mirror."

"I was staring at this truck that was parked outside of your house. It looked like the same truck that was behind us when we were at Taco Bell. It had the same tinted windows." I looked over at David and his face went straight. Nothing nice about it.

"What color was the truck?"

"Black." He didn't say anything else after that. He didn't look like he wanted to be bothered either. So we just say in silence as we drove to my house.
