A hungry void

51 A hungry void

{Three days later…}

Zara stood with her eyes burning as she looked at the small stone etched into the ground. It had an epitaph on it that Aaron had personally written. It was so small that no one would believe that it was the last remains of someone who’d once been so…lively.

This was it. The resting place of Bella—well, if it could be called a resting place. The manner in which she died still left Zara trembling whenever she recalled the bloodied floor and Aaron’s shirt that had been stained red.

The saddest thing was seeing him hold onto the body with trembling hands, refusing to let go even when the ambulance came. Aaron had cried his heart out and Zara had to admit that was the first time he’d seen a man so broken down.
