Epilogue: A better place

70 Epilogue: A better place

{A year later…}

Andrew dropped flowers on the grave then stepped back. He had a solemn look on and that was further accentuated by the black jacket he’d worn. Zara stepped beside him. She’d laid her flower on the grave too, but had given Andrew a few minutes of internal monologue before he dropped his.

“It still feels like it was yesterday,” Zara said, shaking her head. At nights, she had dreams of Gracie putting a gun to her head. Most times, those dreams morphed into terrible events that led to blood and gore. She sighed. “He saved my life that day, you know?”

Andrew nodded, his eyes fixed on Aaron’s grave. After a while, he exhaled then pulled out a notebook. He carried that around whenever they went out together. It was their way of communication. Zara felt that after one year, she’d known and understood him better, but Andrew still insisted to use the notebook to avoid miscommunication.
