Sean was the definition of efficiency. After that day in hospital, Sean started working to sell the shares at an acceptable price. It took him 22 days of exhausting work, but he got the deal done at 43 million pounds.
With money on his hands, John couldn't wait to get started on his project to buy Leicester City F.C.
So, he was currenty waiting for Sean in a cafe to talk to him about it. Because even if he knew the evaluation of the club from the memories of his previous life and didn't need to research, he still had no idea how to go about it. He had no connections and no information on how to do it. Afterall, he can't just show up and tell the Leicester board that he wants to buy the club.
John was lost in his thoughts when Sean arrived.
"How have you been?" John asked looking at a tired Sean.
"I am not in the mood for small talk." Sean replied offhandedly, "More importantly, why have you called me here?"
John knew Sean didn't respect him and he only agreed to sell his shares and come here because of his relationship with John's late father. But John didn't mind because he knew with time he will change everyone's perspective of him.
"I told you that I wanted to invest in football and I want to talk to you about it."
"Okay what have you thought?" Sean asked in a disinterested tone.
"I have been researching and came to a conclusion to buy Leicester City F.C." replied John with a sure expression.
Finally with some curiosity, Sean asked, "Okay. Now tell me why Leicester? If you want to buy a football club why not in London? Leicester isn't doing very well in Championship. You can buy a strong Championship club here in London."
John was ready for the question. He hadn't been idle for the past 22 days in which Sean was handling the selling of his shares. He had been preparing because even if his memories from the past were there, it had been too long to recall everything. He didn't remember the details.
"That's because London fans have already been divided by big teams and even though Leicester is not comparable to London, it has the largest economy in East Midlands. Leicester also has a solid group of supporters."
Seeing that Sean was listening intently, John continued, "And as you said, Leicester is a weak team but that also means it will be cheaper compared to strong clubs and it can be shaped as to how I want."
"I have a limited amount of funds, if I were to buy a strong club I won't have money left to make any changes. Leicester has also been put into administration because of debts which means buying it will be easy. The debts are rather large but they won't put any burden on the club in short term."
John looked at Sean. He could tell Sean was affected by his words.
"I have to say I wasn't expecting you to be really serious about this but it looks like you came prepared." Sean told John, "Alright if you are really serious I will ask someone to conduct an investigation so as to find out what the club is worth."
Sean took out his phone to make a call but John stopped him, "Wait a minute"
Sean looked at John with confusion, "Why?"
"I have already done research on the value of the club" John told Sean.
Seeing Sean putting his phone back, John continued, "Acc. to the estimates, their player squad is worth roughly 4-4.5 million pounds. Including their youth academy and other facilities, the overall price would be somewhere between 5.5 to 6 million."
Sean finally looking impressed and said, "Okay but let me take another opinion."
John finally conceded, "Alright but hurry up, because we have competition. Someone else is looking to buy the club."
"Who?" Sean asked.
"Ex Portsmouth owner Milan Mandaric." replied John.
