2: Possibilities

The news of the riots and explosions in the prison on Rikers Island with the shocking news, Sally Pladys was not found until the news appeared and spread to the public. The news made Marsha Anderson's atmosphere feel tense in the morning. She fell silent listening to Nolan's voice still on the other end of the line. The hands of the clock seemed so sluggish, that even Marsha felt the world stop turning.

"I hope you're okay, Sha," Kate said before replacing Nolan's earlier voice. Now Kate is talking to Marsha. Kate had to talk to Marsha about the news.

Marsha's breath was heavy and breathless. Marsha felt as if the sky had just fallen right above her head.

"I'm very surprised, Mrs. Felix."

Marsha's voice sounded hoarse which was then followed by the next breath.

"I don't think it's just you. Nolan and I are just as surprised as you are, Sha," Kate said. Pause present a few seconds. "I'm sure everyone was shocked," Kate added.

It happened for the first time. Rikers Island Prison is one of the world's most secure prisons. Located on an island, security and surveillance resemble the current version of Alcatraz prison. Sally Pladys still hasn't been found. Marsha still can't believe her son's killer is now on the loose.

"Yeah, I feel that it's impossible to happen. Isn't it---" The shadow of the prison walls and her presence on an island made it impossible for the residents there to escape. It takes a lot of effort to do that. All thoughts popped up in Kate and Marsha's heads in their respective versions.

"Nolan is still investigating what happened to Sally. How is that woman---"

"The same question that is in my head right now, Mrs. Felix," Marsha snapped as she grabbed her briefcase and walked out of the bedroom before going down the hall and the stairs one by one while still talking and holding on to the concrete that divides the right and left sides of the stairs. "How could it happen?" Marsha asked in disbelief and still couldn't imagine how Sally Pladys had escaped.

The sound of the heel of Marsha's shoes pounding against the marble floor she was stepping on. "She's free now. She managed to escape," said Marsha in a voice that sounded annoyed, a manifestation of her feelings after watching the news about Sally who managed to escape from prison.

"The fact that Nolan managed to get was that there were explosions and riots inside the prison. That fact was obtained from information obtained from inside the prison."

"Were you the one who sent the information to Sheina Griffin?" Marsha accused remembering the information given by Kate was the same as the one given by Sheina a few minutes earlier. Marsha is sure that the prison will not let the facts of what happened a few hours ago be revealed in the media

"Yeah, I sent an anonymous message to the news."

Both fell silent. "It's not for nothing that Nolan and I did that, Sha." Kate took a deep breath and exhaled loudly. "They should know if---"

"You found out first?" Marsha's voice was surprised and her steps stopped at that moment.

"Everyone should know that a dangerous prisoner has escaped and has not been found yet," said Kate explaining the question and answering the curiosity that plagued Marsha Anderson. Kate was sure and could easily guess the fear that Marsha was feeling now considering how dangerous Sally Pladys had been with all the things she had done to Marsha's life, especially with the fact that Marsha's accident was not an ordinary accident, but an accident of planning. A premeditated murder that ultimately took Czar Bulgakov, Marsha's son who was not yet ten years old. "What are you planning to do, Sha?"

"I don't know, Mrs. Felix," Marsha sighed heavily. "I still can't think of anything at the moment with all the news going on."

"Yes, I understand. Nolan and I will investigate Sally's whereabouts for you. I hope you're being careful, Sha," Kate asked with genuine concern for Marsha.

"Thanks for the help and attention you and Nolan gave," Marsha said and the conversation ended.

"Not a problem for me, Sha. We will provide you with the progress. I want you to contact Luke Michael on this matter. After all Luke is your lawyer right now," Kate reminded Marsha.

"Yes, I need legal protection."

"Do you feel the need for care?" asked Kate offers. It's not difficult for Felix's family when it comes to security. Nothing is impossible for the Felix family. Marsha was surprised by Kate's offer.

Marsha continued her steps to immediately move from the Anderson family's residence to her office which had resumed operations even though there was not much Marsha could do with the series of events that had occurred in her life in the last few months.

"I think you're exaggerating about this."

"We're just worried about you."

"Could it be that if Sally could just--" Marsha's sentence stopped suddenly and Marsha was heard holding her breath which made Kate suspicious.

"Sha. Marsha." Kate called and Marsha didn't budge. A group of news seekers has been around the residence of Marsha Anderson. Two vans with transmitting antennas were parked not far from the house entrance. Another panic attack hit. "Marsha." Kate's voice this time made Marsha flinch.

"Yes, Mrs. Felix."

"What happened to you? Is something wrong?" Marsha's question which was followed by the sound of the front doorbell from her house echoed in every corner of the room.

"Yes, I think the news has made them come and fill the front of the house, Mrs. Felix," said Marsha which made Kate confused.

"What do you mean?"

Marsha's question was not immediately answered by Kate. She walked to the door to find out who had been ringing the doorbell so impatiently. The front doorbell rang repeatedly and stomped rapidly. Repeatedly.

"I. Yes, they---"

"I came to take you from this house, Sha," Trevor said matter-of-factly as soon as Marsha opened the door for him and Trevor immediately closed the door behind his footsteps.

"Sha, what happened?" Kate asked curiously at Trevor's voice that she could clearly hear.

"Mrs. Felix looks like I have to stop our conversation now. I have other things to finish."

"Okay. Let us know whatever happens. We will always help you, Sha. Don't forget that, right?" Kate said sincerely.

Marsha and Trevor stood facing each other and stared at each other. Marsha is still holding the cell phone in her hand which is attached to her right ear. "I will never forget that. Mrs. Felix. Once again I thank you for all your help." Marsha said it politely and straightforwardly.

The call stopped and Marsha put her cell phone in the pocket of the blazer she was wearing and then came face to face with Trevor who seemed still waiting for her.

"What happened? Why are there so many---"

"How did you get past them and---"

"Those reporters---" Marsha was staring inquisitively as Trevor Brown seemed oblivious to the news about the riots in one of the world's most secure prisons. "You really don't know if---"

"If what?" Trevor snapped impatiently.

Marsha just stared before finally walking back towards the sofa, plopping her slim body on one of the sofas followed by Trevor. "What happened?" asked Trevor again.

Marsha had nothing to suspect about Trevor's ignorance of the news about Sally Pladys' escape. "You should know that Sally Pladys escaped from prison."

"Impossible." A spontaneous reaction that just came out of Trevor's mouth.

"That's the truth," said Marsha.

In its purest form, the act of punishment produces symmetry. Payments for crimes against innocent people. But the danger of retaliation lies much deeper, in its cycle of violence. But that's a risk that must be faced when greater resistance results in the guilty being released from punishment.

A few hours before.

A pair of skinny barefoot legs. The body was still wrapped in prison clothes. She continued to run through the deep rows of trees. The darkness that seemed real, the breath heaving along with the heart working so hard. The lungs feel congested. An organ that pumps air inward, drawing in a lot of air. Occasionally stop while holding on to a large tree trunk, bend down and catch her breath again.

The sound of a dog howling is almost like a wolf. With the sound of helicopters and the lights being shone down, occasionally she pressed her body against a tree trunk, avoiding the pursuit of the police in the air. "I can't go back there. I have to get off," Sally muttered under her breath. Breath sounds messy. She could also feel the sore soles of her feet without using a base.

"Damn, I have to find a way to escape from this cursed place." A sentence that sounded like perfect determination. Sally returned to continue her efforts to escape from the confines of the prison walls. The cold of the cramped prison room was stifling. "You will get what I deserve, Marsha Anderson. Cursed woman. Funk!" cussed Sally as she ran and kept running along with her memory of her eventual trial before Judge Joan Hunt decided on a life sentence.

The boulder was nowhere to be seen, Sally's steps came to a halt, and the body of her cage crashed on the ground followed by the light from the helicopter passing by. Sally didn't flinch, letting the prison surveillance helicopter that was looking for her fly away even though it didn't take long for another helicopter to arrive.

Big hands pulled Sally's thin body up from the ground. Sally gasped. "Aww!!! Who are you?!" Sally's voice was almost a shriek. The man's hand tugged so hard that Sally woke up and struggled to her feet. "Don't scream if you want to get out of this place," said a man who then covered Sally's mouth until a white shadow appeared in her eyelids before dark.
