Finishing off more of the monster bugs, Hoshi decided to farm the easy kills more as the next level monster was definitely not his cup of tea. They were coming one after the other, and not only was Hoshi getting bored, he was also getting very hungry. Another notification popped up. This time it was about the fact that he killed five hundred. Fifty more coins were given, but nothing more.
I wish I could just offline farm with a trap or something... Wait. Hoshi opened his inventory, seeing a bunch of sticks and pieces of cloth and other things.

[Do you want to craft «Spike» using «Wood scrap»?]
[Yes/No]
"Yes." Within a few seconds, in Hoshis inventory appeared twenty five spikes. He took them out and continued to craft some rope. There was a convenient pair of steps that led up a few steps further, and Hoshi had the best idea ever.
Tying a rope to two spikes on either sides of the corridor up the steps, and placing the remaining spikes on the bottom of the steps, Hoshi had created a starter trap meant for brainless tiny bugs. He waited for one of them to come and fall for it, which it did. His gaze fell on the corridor in front of him, then on the walls. There might be another small corridor that led somewhere from the big room where the monster was, but he could also get spotted by the spider thing... Or worse.
Deciding it was better to try than just cry about it, Hoshi placed some bug meat to continue offline farming for bugs before picking up a torch, braced himself for the worst, and started heading back to the spacious room, killing any bugs that stood his way. Uncontrollably, Hoshis mind went to his family. Did they notice that he was gone? How long has it been since he came into the dungeon? Did they miss him? Are they looking for him?
Unable to answer any of the questions, the guy just focused on his current mission. Finally getting to the room, Hoshi took a deep breath and went it, carefully trying not to make any noise. Sure enough, while going along the right wall, Hoshi found another corridor. He still was being careful, but his stomach had different plans. A loud stomach growl echoed in the corridor, and Hoshi sped up his step in order to not wake the spider monster behind him. Getting away from the dangerous area, Hoshi could still feel his heart beating in his throat, despite it being less dangerous. Managing to calm down, Hoshi held the fire torch in his hand tighter and moved further into the new area.
The greenery seemed to get thinner and thinner, until the place looked like it has been kept up pretty well. Like an eighteenth century European castle. Going further down the corridor, Hoshi walked into what seemed like a library, filled to the brim with books. Out of curiosity, Hoshi picked out one if the books and opened it to see is was writen in Japanese. "Language of Deities". Flipping to the next page, the system decided to interfere in a useful way.
[Would you like to transfer the books knowledge into your handbook?]
[Yes/No]
Seeing something like this for the first time, Hoshi didn't see the harm in experimenting. "Yes." Within seconds the book disintegrated in his hand.

[Applying new knowledge...]
Suddenly some of the other names of the books became understandable for Hoshi to read. Even though he has never seen the symbols before, he knew what they meant. Whoa... This... A grin appeared on his face as he eyed all of the other books in the library. The knowledge transfer didn't just let him understand some of the books, it also leveled up his knowledge stat. I think I know what I will be doing for now...

Whew... Hoshi was laying on the ground, his stamina already reaching zero. About one fifth, no, maybe one sixth of the library has been emptied, and his head was hurting like hell. Hoshi was hungry and tired, not being able to even move his arm. I... Want... Food...
He chanted in his head, hoping at least a piece of bread would fall down from the sky, but it didn't. What did help, was that one of the books he transferred was a cook book and a plant book, that helped him identify edible plants around the corridors. He just needed to leave the library and get to where the plants were thriving. Dragging himself on the floor, he managed to reach a plant that was rich in nutrients, but was very bitter.
Sacrifices must be made in order to survive. Hoshi placed a couple of leaves in his mouth, making a face because of the bitter taste. Soon enough his stamina was replenish by a third and he could stand up. Taking about seven handfuls, he called for his inventory and stored the greens there, before returning to the library. There was still a lot of work left, and the dungeon seemed to only get bigger with every new discovery.
