Hereafter, everything starts anew

The last thing I remember is the emptiness around me. I am drifting through the vast empty space. I can feel the cold on my skin. I can feel the heat on my skin.

I, Clive Belmont, have broken free. Of the bonds I had made without thinking. Wiping out everyone's memories of me even my parents', I left the planet. Our journey continued for a long time.

We traveled to many places, met many people, experienced many things both good and bad, I think I am done. As I had initially planned, I am attaining peace.

For me, it would be absolute loneliness. And what is lonelier than space? I discarded everything in my possession, nullified all of my contracts and broke my ties with Her.

The one who is responsible for everything. She called her System, I gave her the name Samantha. However neither was correct. She was neither. I am truly alone, drifting through space.

I don't know where I might end up but this is better than living among humans.

I am still a human. Whilst I have become something akin to a bug. I mean a system malfunction.

Space is doing its very best to destroy me. However, I am not dying. That's the last of my memories.

I don't know how many years has it been? How many aeons have passed? When I regained consciousness, I found myself on a hard surface.

I am lying on my back on something hard. I try to look around but for some reason my neck won't move. So I stay calm. Look at the things that I can see for now.

A white ceiling, light bulbs? I should have been in space. So why am I in a room?

After a moment, my hearing became clear. I can hear beeps from my left. I still can't move my body. Rather, I can't even feel my body.

I have never been good at assuming but I can presume that I am back on a planet that has intelligent life forms. Is it humans or something else?

I wait. Someone must come to check up on me. I can probably understand the situation the better after that. Although, the language is another thing to consider.

After waiting for about 500 beeps, someone comes to me. The beeps are probably my heart rate. It's normal. 75 beeps a minute.

I look at the person standing next to me. Looks to be a human. He has a clean head, sharp eyes and white lab coat on. His face isn't all too special but he seems to be a doctor or along those lines.

"Can you understand me?"

He asks me. I totally can understand what he is saying. So the language seems to be the same. Wait, did I fall back where I started from?

I try to speak but my voice isn't coming out. I try to shake my neck but it's most likely stuck. So I blink my eyes twice.

"I take it that you can understand me. If you do then blink twice again."

I blink twice again.

"Excellent. So not only you are alive but you can also understand our speech. And you seem to be similar to us. Do you remember what happened?"

I blinked twice. Of course I clearly remember everything.

"Wonderful. Your body has become a bit too numb. It'll probably take a lot of rehabilitation for it to become functional again. However your mind is working. Your cognitive function is working just fine. It'll have to wait but you will change the tide of the world."

Saying that, he disappeared from my sight. I hear a door being closed. I guess, I am in something troublesome again. Once I regain my bodily control, I will ask a few things and leave if they let me leave peacefully.

Force is something I don't like using but I am not afraid of using it when need be either.

I patiently wait. With my eyes close. I run simulations. What simulation? Of meeting with humans and trying get along. That doctor does not give me a frame of reference.

Because I have seen it. People are different. There are as many mindsets as there are people. Not everyone is the same and they don't have the same values.

Culture differs, morality differs, even common sense differs from person to person. I have to be prepared for both extremes.

I wonder if they had disclosed my discovery to the public. Normally extra terrestrial contacts are kept from the general populace. It might cause widespread panic.

Another 1000 beeps later, the door opened. Someone other than the doctor came. This time it's a woman dressed in a nurse's outfit.

She takes an injection and injects it into my nerves. Not my veins, not my muscles but nerves.

My thoughts become clearer, I can feel my body. Well, I can feel the cold. It's probably not the environment but my subconscious mind playing tricks.

Because the situation gets better. I start feeling the temperature. It's not cold. It's warm. I can feel my fingers. My neck is moving.

"Can you move now?"

She asks. To which I open my mouth and try to speak but what came out of my mouth was a hoarse voice. It seems I have temporarily lost my voice.

"It seems that your speech is still not functioning. Well, I will have to restrain your hands for now."

She puts handcuffs on my wrist. I think this much vigilance is necessary. No one is impulsive.

Then, a wheelchair was brought. This is uncannily similar to things I know. I tried to get up but it seems rehab is necessary. I forgot how to walk.

Two men came and put me on the wheelchair. Then I was taken outside of the room.

For the first time, I am seeing the outside. Not quite but through the window I can see that it's afternoon now. Something akin to a sun is setting into the distance.

I try to calibrate my voice. It seems that my larynx is a bit rusty. I shake off the rust and try to speak.

"Hee…hello."

For the first, I spoke in who knows how many years.

"So, you can speak after all."

That nurse spoke. She is pushing my wheelchair.

"I….need…some…time…before..I..can..speak..normally..again."

It seems that continues speech is currently a bit problematic. Whatever, I will ragain my human functions.

"Where are…we going?"

"You are improving while you are recovering?"

The nurse is shocked. I don't know if it's normal or not.

"Well, I just had to speak. Mmm…it seems that it's almost there. And done. I can speak normally again. Nice to meet you. I am Clive Belmont."

"I see. The doctor did say you are fascinating. I can see why. I am Nia Sanders." (Nia)

"That's a good name. By the way, when was I discovered?"

"About 50 days ago. A comet fell and when we rushed to retrieve it, we found you frozen in the comet." (Nia)

"So, ice and cosmic dust. Can I ask about this planet? What is the planet's name?"

"This planet is called Amaryllis. That is the name of our mother goddess as well as this planet." (Nia)

I froze up. Because I came back where I should not have. Hopefully she doesn't remember. I did erase her memories but I can't be too sure.
