First proper meal

I did get some rewards for killing that dark terror thing. But my leg is injured. The bleeding has stopped but it hurts a lot. I managed to get back to the donut rock.

I can't climb over it in my current condition so I just sit by it. I open the backpack and bring everything out.

The meat from the supposed cow, a stove, a big bottle of oil and some cooking utensils with seasonings.

The meat looks normal. I took meat from the neck and the legs. I could only carry so much so I took about 20 kilograms of meat. It should last me for some time.

The utensils aren't many but I have a frying pan, a thick bottom pot and a cast iron skillet. A ladle, a spatula and tongs. Hmm…not bad. I can cook many things with this but I only have meat on hand.

The cooking oil seems to be neutral oil. And salt, sugar, black pepper, cumin and coriander, allspice…the seasonings are diverse. It does have baking soda as well as a small mortar and pestle.

I do have the necessary tools to cook a full meal. But I lack ingredients. I don't have any vegetables to compliment with the meat. I only have meat. I don't even have onions or garlics.

Still, having this much is already a blessing. I can't complain too much. My water supply is okay as well. But I will take a short rest for now. The pain hasn't gone away.

I close my eyes. But it's hard to fall asleep. Everything is hot. My butt is kinda burning. Let's just endure it for now.

I came to a start. Because I felt something licking my fingers. What? What could be licking my fingers? I open my eyes and looked at the culprit.

It's what exactly? It's round, has black fur but I see no limbs. It has round green eyes. A nose is on its face. Its looks similar to a pig. But why is it licking my fingers?

I try to hold it and it didn't run away. It's small because I can actually crush it with my bare hands.

The fur feels soft and it weighs practically nothing. I thought this place had nothing but monsters. But those cow like monsters were just like livestock.

I guess these pet type monsters exist as well.

"What are you?"

I bring it closer to my face and look into its eyes. Compared to its body, those eyes are big. Unnecessarily so. Is it that? Those deformed creatures that look weirdly adorable?

I had an idea. I bring out my water bottle and pour some water on it. Surprisingly, it didn't get wet. The fur actually repelled the water. It's hydrophobic. So it can't become wet.

I had this idea that water might be able to defeat these monsters easily. Because these monsters are probably made of or have somewhat dependence on fire.

It jumped from my hand and sat on my shoulder. It seems like it won't be leaving anytime soon. I try to shake it off but it didn't budge so it's probably sitting tight there.

"Well, I have no problems with keeping a small one with me."

I try to stand up and surprisingly my leg was not hurting. I look at my legs. My pants are torn. I can see the tears but my skin is just fine. The wounds have disappeared.

Even my bone is fixed. I have no problem with standing up. Did this creature have a part in that? Well, that can wait.

I drink some more water and get to work. I take out the stove and turn it on. It seems pretty powerful. I guess I should make something.

The meat I have isn't very fatty. I have to add oil to the meat anyway. Should I just make a simple stir fry? It's tasty and doesn't take too much time.

I do have baking soda here. I can just use that to tenderize meat. But what will I do about the knife? I have only one with me. That's a small knife. I would like a bigger knife.

But I take out the rod that Keith gave me. I keep turning the dial. It does change its shape a lot so this might do the trick.

It turned into a full blown pole, a short sword, a lance, a dual sword, a single edge thin blade and finally a cleaver. But I can work with a cleaver at least.

I cut up the meat into thin strips and add baking soda to it. Just accept that I have a few bowls with me.

Baking soda should do the trick. After waiting for a while, I rinse it off and dry the meat. Just accept it.

The frying pan should do the job. I won't go into details about how I cooked the meat. It's done. A simple, meat only stir fry. I take a bite. The meat is exactly like a cow's. I was worried about it tasting funky but it doesn't.

My stomach was waiting for something like this. After that horrible carrion stew, this feels like heaven. The weird creature is jumping on my shoulder. Does it want some as well?

I give it a piece and it sucked it in. Where is its mouth? But the meat did disappear. It kept jumping.

I guess it wants some as well. I kept feeding ot until it stopped. But then I realized that my portion was totally gone.

It does eat a lot. Then, I should cook some more. Eating real food after that mess feels like heaven and earth. Starving was better than eating that thing and yet, I dared to eat it.

My eating is done. Let's pack up and wait for a bit before leaving. I'll probably keep that thing with me. Even as a human, this place isn't that much of a hassle. Probably because I don't think like a human.

Perspective is a big thing. Once you change your perspective, your world changes. Maybe mine changed a while ago. Anyway, this place shouldn't be too hard so let's just survive and beat this place and go back.
