The Preparations

( Note:: well this chapter was just a build up and indication to what will happen later. Not gonna take much of space here. Just gonna say that, I'm really happy seeing whooper whine after every upload. And you guys being happy about it is like adding additional insult to injury which I'm absolutely enjoying hehe)

The Next Day

After getting a whole ear-full from his mother about Arthur being a heretic, they Leywins turned their attention to a more important and pressing matter. The one that will affect their very lives and futures. Their son's engagement. While Arthur had already given Caera a ring, his parents insisted on a grand event where they engagement ceremony will take place, followed by the other events.

Arthur and caera sat in a large sofa, with Ellie and Sylvie sitting between them totally separating them. In front of them Reynolds and Alice bickered over stuff like where to buy rings for the ceremony and dresses.

Arthur tried to escape from the boring talk by silently sneaking out using illusion magic. As he was about to sneak out,

'Bam' the door opened with a small boom

"Ohh, Arthur. Where are you going, pal? I just got here"

Regis exclaimed, loud enough for everyone to hear. Their parents jolted their heads from the illusion of Arthur to the empty air Regis was talking to. Sensing their confusion Regis started to clarify which btw no one asked Him to do

"You can't see Arthur? Maybe he's using illusion magic. But why is he using it?" A smirk formed on his face as he gasped fakingly "are you perhaps fed up with your parent's bickering?"

Colour faded from Arthur's face as his illusion vanished. His mother glared at him as she dragged Arthur across the room from his ear.

"Sit down and don't move. Regis tell me if he tries to escape again."

"With pleasure ma'am"

Traitor Arthur mentally said

Regis smirked, "that's for the punch" he spat back at him, making a vein pop on Arthur's forehead. Meanwhile Caera just kept playing with Sylvie, occasionally glancing over to sneak a peak at Arthur.

Suddenly, Alice clasped her hands together as she announced "Me, ellie and Sylvie will accompany Caera for her dress. While you can take your dad. Though I doubt if he has a better choice, given his dumb nature." Making Reynolds fake a tear.

"Uhh, Mom can I talk to Caera for a bit? Alone?"

"No"

"For a minute?"

"No"

"Haah"

"Don't sigh, Arthur. You'll grow old faster than....."

The words never left her mouth as the whole world turned monochrome. Runes ran beneath Arthur's eyes as he activated static void. Caera looked around frantically but soon understood what was happening. Arthur stood up from his spot and made his way to Caera. He sat down on his toes, his face extremely close to Caera.

"How are you doing now?"

"H-huh? I'm fine. Totally...I guess."

Arthur looked at her in worry, making her expression soften.

"Don't worry I'm all okay now."

"You know I can get rid of the pain, using aether"

"I don't want to. It's a memento of us becoming one. Let it be, while it lasts."

Her response surprise Arthur as he got closer.

*phewww phewww*

The sound of Regis's whistle resounded in the room

"Looks like we have another masachosit in the town, Baby" Regis said with the same smirk which annoyed Arthur.

"H-how are you still moving?" Arthur said confusion tinged in his tone.

"Because I'm majestic af?"

"I'm serious Regis."

"Can't even take a joke.. I hope your kids don't take after you..... aside from those looks.... As for why I can move! Let's see. Uhhhhh, It's because while you were just lazing around I gained insight into that Static Void from your memories. Right now I have a better control of it, so naturally your static void won't affect me."

Regis explained shortly, but that was enough to make Arthur's jaw drop to the ground. He looked at Regis with a 'This guy? Really?' Look

"Congratulations I guess?"

"Meh, it's too late anyways. Got it when you were in euphotus."

Arthur remained silent for a moment.

"Well let the time flow again. It's not too comfortable seeing you two so close to each other . Makes me want to go and ....., never mind. Just turn the time back on"

Arthur retuned to his seat and sat in the same posture he was sitting before as he released static void, returning the colours back to the world as everyone started the conversation from where they were paused.

All the girls started to move out as they dragged caera with them, leaving only Reynolds, Arthur and Regis.

"Well then let's get going." Regis said as they walked outside too. We walked through the streets of Etistin. It was quite a lovely sight. Alacrya was crippled right now but the asuras still didn't attacked it. That was because, the vritra were a lot powerful than before. Even if they all attack together they'll be able to hold off on their own, their vritra blooded people were able to hold off against a low level asura.

However now is not the time to think over it. I looked around and felt genuine relief seeing the hustle and bustle of the city. Stalls of various jewelleries, a stand of ice cream with little kids all around it pushing each other without waiting for their turns.

The aroma of freshly baked bread from a bakery, the smell of cream being whipped, a blast of mixture of spices from a restaurant, the smell of rum and ale. People were enjoying themselves to the full. A warm smile crept up my face as I saw them happy. I didn't care what awaits me for changing their fate. They are all happy. My family's safe. I looked over to see father trying to sneak in a bar. My father's alive. My mother hasn't broken down. Ellie hasn't died. Caera hasn't died. I didn't had to kill Nico and Cecelia.

This was the outcome I wanted. And it was finally here. We arrived at a tailor's store and went inside. Looking at our robes the man looked at us like we didn't belonged to the place. Dad revealed the Leywin's insignia while I uncovered the hood from my face.

"G-good afternoon Mr.Leywin. It's an honour to have you here. What can I get for you?"

"My kid's getting engaged and married. I'll need you to make him stand out the most. Hahaha. Should look like my son" dad said slamming my back, Hard.

"Shouldn't it be the other way around. Well, don't mind me, and don't take my words to heart. Pfft~" Regis said and stifled his laugh while Reynolds  just rolled his eyes.

While Arthur wasn't a very picky person, even his eyes sparkled at the suit in front of him. he has never seen this in this world but it was a common thing, back in his previous world.

'A tuxedo. Must be either cecil or nico' Arthur thought.

They bought the tuxedo and went to the jewellery shop afterwards. Arthur had already given a ring to Caera but his parents insisted to do it formally this time. As he was walked inside and started searching for something worth her, a certain ring caught his attention.

A palladium ring. He didn't knew wether the person who made it knew about the metal, but it was actually quite a good material back in his world. It was silver-white in colour. Palladium was a metal that didn't tarnish. It was both hypoallergenic and malleable.

The shank was made up of what seemed like diamonds. It was really a work of art. (A/n shank is the claw type thingy which is on either side of the gemstone embedded on the ring)

In a prong setting, thin metal "claws" extend up from the band to hold a center ruby with an intricate matrix in place. The ruby was carved in a round crown and gridle with a small cone-like base. The ruby was bright red in colour, just like her eyes.

"This should be prefect" Arthur muttered to himself. Arthur decided to buy it and paid an extra sum too. After all it was something he deemed worthy to sit on his to-be wife's finger. And not many things are worthy of her.

As Arthur was drenched in his thoughts, Regis called out to him

"Why don't you try casting Spatium on it. You won't want your fiancé wear multiple rings now do you?"

"Mm, good idea"

Arthur casted Spatium edict on the ring by activating his Spatial Domination rune, turning it into a dimensional ring, enough to carry a whole house's worth of goods.

"Try casting some defensive spells too. You know maybe In the future when you're away, so just in case"

Arthur looked at Regis dumbfounded

"What?"

"I don't believe you're being useful"

"Rude. And I'm not doing it for you. I know you have to be away, so just in case if maybe she's pregnant or  have kids and I'm not around too... What I want to say is I'm doing it for my sister in law and my nephews and nieces"

"Thank you Regis" Arthur said his face turning gloomy, knowing of the fate that awaited him.

"Don't sweat it. Caring for your masachosit ass was what I was made for anyways. I'll always be there for your family. So relax and only concentrate on the ceremony"

"You know it's really hard to get used to this side of yours. I still remember when you were a pup"

"Heyyyyyyyy, don't you make me remember that. Do you know hard it is to forget that bestial genital-less past of mine" Regis started to throw a tantrum.

Arthur laughed heartily when his gaze lingered towards the sky. A smile crept up his face, as he bowed slightly and continued walking towards his house.

????????? POV

"Get ready lads. You two will be going with me" I said to the two young children of our family who were granted the duty of guarding HIS family. A man considered an anomaly even among us.

"Why do we have to guard the family of those meager...ants?" The boy said

"You'll know once you meet him." A smile formed on my face unbeknownst to me as the boys had confusion etched on their faces.

"Time To Go" I ordered as we warped through the space.
