Chapter 14: Man Things

Owen POV

William harassed Owen yet again. It was only the second day after Owen had shared the night with Arion in the meadow and William had already given him his fill of grief.

He had known better than to hide his whereabouts from his friend, but that didn’t make him regret it any less.

Sarcastically, William rolled his eyes, “Oh, you know I am just giving you a hard time, Owen. No need to be such a party pooper.”

Owen continued to ignore his friend while he split the wood behind the tavern. William, of course, was supposed to be helping and carrying it in for his parents and their business. Right now, though, he was too preoccupied with taunting his friend.

Finally, Owen had to say something to break the continuous stream of William’s voice.

“I get it. You’re making fun because you feel left out.”

Will blanched at that. “I do not! Wait, well left out from what exactly?”

Owen laughed as he swung the axe down.
