Chapter 21: Chicago Crime

When I woke up and quickly rose from the floor, Grayson was leaning over on the bed. Matt was gone and so was Ava. I walked over to Grayson and he gripped me into a tight hug.

“He’s gone, Ben. He’s really gone. I saw his body vanish, just like Ray. Ava killed him and he didn’t even scream. I tried to stop her but she ran too fast. We have to find her. Matt just can’t really be gone.” He said through sobs as I rubbed his back.

“I’m so sorry you saw that. I wish I could have helped. We’ll find her and figure this out together. What about that prophecy?” I asked, pulling out of the hug but keeping my hands in his.

“It sounded like Ava thought that the three of us couldn’t be hurt. So maybe it seemed like Matt died but his body just went somewhere else, right?” Grayson said.

“It’s worth looking into. But we aren’t safe here. Once we find Ava, we should get out of here.” I answered, as we left the house and went back to where we saw those two guys.
