Chapter 47: Love Birds

Once we made it back to Montpelier, I continued discovering more about myself and Romeo. We explored the area together. Climbed mountains, swam in lakes, followed birds, and made new friends along the way. I also texted or called Matt and Grayson every day. Talking about school or skating or where they might go in the future.

I am finally allowing myself to change and discover my inner self, not the Ben I thought I was. There was one particular Saturday when Romeo noticed me changing.

We were sitting on a grassy hill at the base of a mountain where we frequently watched the stars.

“I can really see you now. The real you. Not who you thought you would be or who you used to be. You’re lighter now.” He told me, making pathways through the stars with his fingers.

“You really think so? It must be the fresh air and your grandma’s words of wisdom. No one can be the same after that.” I said as we giggled.
