Chapter 55: Geien

I heard them before I saw them. The ground quaked with their arrival and their battle cries reached us on the winds. I grinned as the scent of steel and upturned earth assaulted my nose. Today was a good day to die for any that opposed us.

I looked to Helemoira who danced about on her toes, readying herself for what was to come. I did not worry about her though, I knew that she would do amazing. Antora would watch out for her and I was pretty sure that Pelleas and I both wouldn't stray too far from her should she need us.

"It's time," Pelleas said with every ounce of seriousness that he could muster. He was a good male, and I was proud to go into battle with him at my side.

Nudging him with an elbow, I leaned into him. "Follow me, grab Helemoira."

He looked to me curiously but did as I bid him. I marched out ahead of the group towards the army that grew ever closer. I felt the two of them flank me and pull in close.
