Chapter 49: World on Fire

JULIAN’S POV

I had prepped everything so we were f*cking ready for this fight. There wasn’t anything that I needed to do other than show up and shelf the a*s, but Vivian wasn’t leaving me alone. She kept godd*mn helicoptering me with her worried words. I was shrugging on my suit coat when she grabbed my hand from my lapels.

“Please tell me that you’re going to be safe,” Vivian searched my gaze, and I brought her hand up to kiss along her knuckles.

“I promise to be careful. I only plan to shelf the guy.” I sighed and let her hand go. “You need to remain safe. I don’t want to worry about you getting hurt when I’m there.”

“I wish you would let me come fight with you. I could help,” Vivian tried to beg me to let her help us.

I shook my head and brushed my hand along her cheek, “I need you to stay here and hang out with Maureen. She’s going to teach you how to cook my favorite meal.” I let a smile fall onto my lips to try and f*cking reassure her.
