Epilogue
Fiona wanted to run a full diagnostic because surely she'd heard Solus wrong. He said he loved me! That he wanted her forever. Perhaps, the captain had killed her. Or she dreamed again while he shipped her inert body. The kind of joy she currently felt couldn't be real. Couldn't be possible.
Solus drew back from the embrace, his dark eyes searching her intently. "What's wrong?"
"I'm afraid this is just a dream. That I'll wake up and be back in my nightmare." A world without Solus.
"Never again, Fiona. I will never let the humans take you away from me. I will do everything in my power to make you happy. To make you smile and laugh like you deserve. I love you so much it frightens me, and yet, I wouldn't have it any other way."
Moisture pooled in her eyes and her words emerged as a tight whisper. "I love you, Solus. I never thought I'd understand what it meant, but I do. I need you. I would do anything for you so long as we can be together."
