One Vs Many

The gloomy hour that came right before dawn was worse with the cloud layer that came out of nowhere, I was glad I had my pureblood eyes in this form too as I finally caught the edge of her trip and followed that trail.

It would have been incomparably more efficient for me to travel as a vampire. But I had nothing to envision going to or reaching. Even if I did, the thought of switching forms right now was incredibly painful. I needed to follow her scent. A palpable indication that she physically ran in this direction not so long ago, that she was okay.

The shriek of agony that she let out brought back the memory of her battle with Elizabeth last year. The hair on my neck and shoulders stood up when I remembered how that confrontation ended. I felt my body pushing impossibly fast now, this speed wasn't much different from running as a vampire after all.
