Pain

Moon's POV

I ran as fast and as far as I could. Alex will never be my mate. No one will. I could feel my brothers panic through the pack link.

'Sam, I am sorry. Please don't be mad. You would have killed him.'

'Moon. Where the hell did you go? Did he hurt you? I'll kill him!'

'No! Please don't. Just bring clothes outback. I'll be there in a few.'

'Okay. But we need to talk.'

I cut off the link, annoyed. As I ran back to the house, I felt a prick in my hip. As the liquid was injected, I felt myself begin to drift off. Based on the burning sensation, it was Wolfbane. This was going to hurt like a bitch. I had to let Sun know before I passed out.

'Sun!'

'What?'

'I...don't...feel...well...' I said, just as the Wolfbane began to work through my system. I could hear him call out to me, but I couldn't focus enough to respond.

'Moon? MOON!'

Everything went dark.

Sun's POV

I jumped off the couch after Moon didn't respond. Based on her tone of voice, she was out cold. I needed to find her before anyone else did.

"Where are you going?" I heard a voice say and I turned around to face the mystery man.

That's when I realized who he was. Alex, the man we all despised. He was annoying as hell and his pack was powerful.

"Alex," I growled.

"Sun, where are you going?" he said in his Alpha tone. that wouldn't work on me.

"Out for a run," I said brushing past him and heading towards the treeline.

I need to find Moon. I tried to contact her once more, hoping she was just unfocused.

'Moon! Can you hear me?';

'Sun...h-help...'

I didn't care about Alex anymore. I needed to find my sister. I blurred to the line and laid out Moons clothes. Then I shifted.

'What's wrong, Sun?' my wolf, Mitch, asked.

'Moons down. I don't know where. Please follow her scent.'

I felt Mitch take over and in no time we found her, in wolf form, unconscious. She was strong, so this wasn't a good sign.

'MOON!?'

No response. I grabbed her by the scruff and blurred back to the backyard. There Alex stood, waiting. When he saw me holding Moon by the scruff, he ran over to help, and a look of worry flashed across his features. I growled as a warning but, he took her anyway.

Alex's POV

I watched as Sun ran out of the house. I followed, curious as to why he left in such a hurry. He seemed frantic to shift and run. He placed girls' clothes on the porch, shifted, and ran into the woods. I decided to wait for him to come back, hopefully with Moon. I looked over the clothes he laid out, and by the scent, they were my Moons. As my mind wondered about all the things I would do to her, I heard Sun running back. His step was heavier, and coming into view I could see why.  I focused on the object and realized it was Moon he was holding by the scruff. I wasted no time going over to get her. Sun growled when I tried to take her from him the first time but, I ignored him and took Moon from his jaws. Sam needed to hold her and help her as did I.

Sun's POV

'He ignored our warning! We should kill him!' Mitch growled.

'Moon is our priority, Mitch. Don't you forget our promise.'

I shifted back, just as Alex blurred into the house with Moon in his arms.

"Son of a-," is all I could say before I fell to the ground, clutching my head in pain.

Alex's POV

I blurred into the house when Sun shifted back. I placed Moon on the floor and she winced in pain. I heard Sun fall to the ground, clutching his head. I focused on Moon and looked her over, she hadn't shifted back yet. My eyes went to her hips and what I saw made my heart stop. Her veins were black and spider-webbing.

Wolfbane.

Now I knew this was serious. Wolfbane is the only weakness of a werewolf, that can kill in a matter of hours. It is a slow and painful death

I could possibly lose my mate and I just got her.

Sun's POV

When the pain subsided, I ran inside to find her on the floor. She still hadn't shifted back. I glanced at where Alex was looking and saw her black, spider-webbing veins on her hip. I fell to my knees, holding her head in my lap.

'Moon! Can you hear me?!'

I was frantic to hear her voice again. I looked up at Alex, teary-eyed.

"I know the cure," I said to him softly.

"Well, what is it then?! We don't have time for this!" he frantically yelled.

"We can't," I whispered.

"What?" he asked, "Speak up!"

"WE CAN'T SAVE HER!" I yelled before collapsing from her pain.
