I choose you

SUMIRE

Sumire knew she ought to be more afraid of his words. Any normal person would be afraid. But, she has never been normal. Even now, hearing him admit that he won't treat her preciously even if something happened. She doesn't mind it. She who is afraid of being touched by another person, is going to allow him to do whatever she wants.

'Since I have met Toh. I no longer feel like myself. He makes me go crazy.'

"I choose you, I want you Toh." The words have barely left her lips before Toh is kissing her harshly again. 

Harsh kisses and rough touches, but she wants him. She wants him to touch her, wants her to remind her that she is still someone he wants. 

"You don't love him? Tell me you don't. Tell me that you rushed over to the hospital because you have a kind heart and not because you still love him."

"I don't love him, I never did. I could have, but it never happened. I rushed over because it wasn't just his life that was in danger but everyone else. But I also rushed over because I wanted answers. He told me during Ru's explanation that he will explain everything to me. I wanted answers."

"Did you get them?"

Sumire nodded. "I have them now and even after listening to him." She takes a deep breath. "You, your the one I want to be with Toh."

TOH

As much as he wanted to stay in bed with Sumire in his arms. He is woken up to the sound of his phone. It doesn't surprise him to see Lucifer's name. When he carried her back home yesterday, when he held Sumire. Toh noticed it, Lucifer's scent was on the girl. Which meant Lucifer was there, the two of them met. Toh turned to Sumire and kissed her forehead softly.

He was still angry, but not as much as yesterday. Whether his mood improves will depend on the rest of their conversation. Toh slipped on some clothes, picked up his phone and headed downstairs. He heads to the kitchen and starts cooking before answering.

"Not that I expected you to pick up on the first ring, but you should give your boss more respect."

"I have had a long night." Toh said as he opened the cupboards and took some ingredients needed for breakfast. 

Lucifer chuckled. "I am sure you have."

"My woman got dragged into your little charade yesterday, since she was visiting a relative in the hospital."

"I see, so you're mad?"

Toh frowned. "Why didn't you tell me about it? If you did, I could have controlled the situation better."

Last night after Sumire fell asleep, he learned that Arata was there and that Arata's men got caught in the cross fire. Arata was livid and sent a warning. 'I'm only obeying his commands because I want to fight Ibuki. But, if he pushes his luck. I will switch my target easily.'

"Arata wasn't happy. Several of his men got hurt or died."

A deep sigh escaped Lucifer's lips. "It was the only way to lure Nagawa. I had to assign a fake job, otherwise he would have left the hospital. Attacking another place would have been very inconvenient."

Toh held back his words then. What inconvenience? Had he dragged Nagawa to the port instead. HYOU4 and the police wouldn't have reacted so fast, and innocent lives wouldn't have been dragged into it. 

Toh paused at that thought. This isn't the first time Lucifer has dragged innocent people into his stunts. He has stood silently on the sidelines and watched it happen so many times.

So why is he so angry about this now? 

"I assume your woman got away safely, since you had a long night which was no doubt enjoyable."

Flashes of Sumire's flushed face and her moaning his name over and over repeated in his head. Indeed, it was enjoyable. But, he is still furious. Furious not only at her but at Lucifer. 

"That's not the point here. Aren't I your second in command? If your not even informing me of plans like this, what use is there for this title."

"I must apologize for that. But I was under the impression that your dislike for Nagawa would interfere with the mission. Or am I wrong?"

'I can't deny that, had Lucifer told me. I would have offered to torture Nagawa myself, and that would have made me an even bigger monster.'

"The Holy Knights was already causing us issues. But with this move HYOU4 and the police will be more on alert." Toh pointed out. "The syndicate has grown, but we are still severely lacking in numbers, even more after last night. We can't pull such large scale attacks without thinking of the consequences."

He hated saying the words 'we.' Hated that he had anything to do with the crazy man that lead to so many innocent lives being lost.

"If it's recruitment you do not have to worry. I am working on it. The people who died last night weren't significant to the organisation any longer."

"So, you used this as an opportunity to get rid of them?"

"Yes."

Toh sighed. "Was there a reason why you were calling so early?"

"I just wanted to remind you of your mission. I haven't been receiving any updates from you recently. Things with the organisation have been busy, so I have been occupied. But, eventually I want to hear how it has been going."

Toh immediately understood that tone. 

"I understand boss. I will report to you soon." With a few more words, Lucifer ended the all and Toh sighed in frustration.

He is doing that on purpose. What is with this timing? 'I don't want to end my relationship with Sumire and pursue the boss girl, now that things have become tense with us. If I break up with Sumire now, she will think it's because of this incident.' Even if he is angry at her for what happened. He isn't angry enough to break up with her. He already decided a long time ago, that he wanted her and only her. Having these thoughts are dangerous, he still has a mission to prioritise to do. But everytime he thought about the mission, Arata's words would float to mind.

Sumire is truly the only one who fits the description boss gave him. Moreover, boss himself went to the hospital. Boss could have mentioned Sumire anytime during the discussion just now, but he didn't say anything. 

Lucifer's attitude towards his 'girlfriend' too has been suspicious. It always feels like he is taunting him. Is it really her? Is she really the one he has been looking for?
