A Teakettle History ~ what happens to Earth after almost two thousand years?

1962 Star Collapse

Also known as Celestial Suffocation, and Celestial Panic.

On the 12th of September in affected territories, six trillion bolides ("meteorites which explode in the atmosphere") fell down the Pacific airspace. Although classified as a cataclysmic event, nothing happened to the geographical state of Earth except for the instance of a fantastical portal opening in Kyoto, Japan located in close proximity to Miomeikan University.

The portal leads to a mirroring dimension called Magic Side.

Aside from the portal, the event also leaves the Binary Skies.

It is an astronomical phenomenon where the sky clears and projects a shifting binary sequence for a minute and four seconds every midnight of the 12th of September. It is exclusive to the Magic Side, and cannot be seen anywhere else other than the Asia-Pacific region. Derived from computer architecture, it reveals the world exists inside a simulation.

First Magic War, circa 1985 to 1988

Right before Japan's transition to the Heisei Period, a series of political struggles fueled by the practice of magic among Humans sparked a war.

With the loss of Humans, Magic Side closes its doors for further deals.

Chaos Child, circa 2006 to 2020

April 26, 2006, in the city of Nichiyoubi, the Empire of Japan: nicknamed Chaos Child, the prodigious second child of an eccentric noble family from the was born.

Fourteen years later, while already hailed as the strongest mage, Chaos Child comes into contact with the dying Chaos King, Amatsumikaboshi. He receives the power to govern chaos─the nonexistent Chaos Magic─further accelerating his statistics in the prevalent British Magic System. Among many others, he also becomes immortal after being incinerated in the ritual.

From his consequential loss of interest in life, he doesn't use his talent until four years in the future.

Amaryllis of Crimson Gables, circa 2003 to 2022

June 23, 2003, Amaryllis of Crimson Gables, the prodigious daughter of a prominent farming family in a remote Filipino village is born.

September 12, 2011, Amaryllis witnesses the Binary Skies while struggling to sleep. Afterwards, she sees a trail of butterflies leaving the atmosphere. Amaryllis obsesses over these phenomena, causing her neighborhood to shun her. Her constant research brings to the creation of Snow White and the Seven Gods, a novel weirdly featuring Chaos Child as the protagonist and is set in the Magic Side.

After inciting a national security breach during one of her investigations, the Interpol invites her to attend Miomeikan University.

Six months of living in Kyoto, she begins the new novel Screaming Butterflies which features her childhood experience.

Hitting a roadblock while writing prompts her to accidentally encounter Clover, the protagonist of Screaming Butterflies, whom afterwards lead her to the Magic Side. Important notes are omitted for mystery flair.

Second Magic War, circa 2023 to 2024

Also called by Chaos Child as the Introspective Invasion.

From another series of political struggles greatly influenced by Amaryllis of Crimson Gables and Chaos Child, a war happens between mages and magically-involved humans─in reference to sorcerers and psychics.

After its span of four months, both the Magic and Human Sides combine into one resulting in the change of lives for both humans and mages alike.

Losing his immortality, Chaos Child is later assassinated by Amaryllis of Crimson Gables.

Era of High Magic, circa 2024 to 2091

The planet enters a phase where magic is used in everyday life in coexistence with technology. With the absence of Chaos Child, the true mages are oppressed. Amaryllis of Crimson Gables continues to operate on the sidelines but falls out of significance due to inaction.

Life has fallen low because of wealth imbalance, the era doesn't experience a lull until an escalation towards the third deadliest global conflict in history.

World War III, circa 2091 to 2093

Third of the deadliest conflicts in history fought between the world leaders: the superpower of Ghratell against a few existing countries of the United Nations.

Distinction between the normal and magic population has already been blurred.

Great Escape, circa 2093 to 2098

After the impact left by World War III, the planet becomes barren for agriculture.

Humans escape into space to find a suitable planet to live after the proposed terraformation of Mars has failed.

Breathing Planet, circa 2098 to 2318

As recorded in history books, the only ones who remained after the Great Escape are the few volunteers of the Eden Project all gathered in New York City.

Branded as "Corpse Trees", they're later biologically engineered to become sentient trees.

Return War, circa 2318 to 2345

Humanity comes back to Earth but is instead rejected by the "newer, more superior" race of Treefolk.

Both races undergo a long period of conflict with the humans set to take over New York City, the last remaining functional city since they left thanks to Treefolk maintenance.

During the early stages of the conflict, the humans install a giant revolver on the moon.

2345 Interstellar Invasion

An interstellar event happening in the midst of Return War but otherwise unrelated to the conflict: otherwise classified as fictitious races, the kobolds and orcs rampaged from the skies in order to conquer Earth.

They are led to Earth with the discovery of humans to their home planets located in the distant Proxima Centauri and Sirius star systems respectively. Angels and demons from the Sirius star system also follow, but only as spectators.

Resources yet finite, everyone clashes over who holds New York City.

2345 Growth of Twilightwood

As chaos emanates between races, the last remaining Treefolk John Cypress and the head of Eden Project George Olsen─who remains a human─sacrificed themselves to rapidly cultivate John into the World Tree; or the Yggdrasil for better reference.

John becomes the base of the new civilization.

Before his death, George Olsen leaves a record saying that the tree will be called Twilightwood.

2401 Holy Twilight Church

Civilization establishes itself with John's unknown sacrifice at its center.

Pennsylvania, where the Twilightwood grew overnight, becomes a territory controlled by kobold and humans while the orcs claim territories over the Appalachian mountains.

The Holy Twilight Church oversees the rule of civilization.

4312 Teakettle Conundrum

A series of events leading to the Star Collapse, which completes a time loop.
