Chapter 44: Helpless

Despite the harshness of Jason's words, the individual refrained from attacking him and allowed him to finish speaking. When Jason had finished, instead of getting angry, a smile bloomed on the individual's face.

As he observed the individual's smile, Jason couldn't help but feel as though he was conversing with some sort of devil. The smile on the individual's face reminded him of the devilish grins that he had seen in movies and read about in books.

Before Jason can say another word or try to run away he found himself in the hands of the individual who is holding him up in the air while holding his neck almost similar to the way he was holding the Glendin.

Before Jason can say something further or make a dash for it when, suddenly, he felt a strong pair of arms lift him off the ground. He was suspended in the air, and the individual holding him had a tight grip around his neck, almost mirroring the way he held the Glendin earlier.

Still, the grip is not tightened enough that Jason won't be able to breathe but it was tight enough to not let him breathe properly which caused Jason to cough again and again.

The situation is worrying because Jason relies on a specific breathing technique to perform his skill, and if he is unable to execute it correctly, it could result in a failure of the skill.

Additionally, if that happens Jason will not be able to maintain proper breathing, which will lead to physical harm, as the intense physical exertion will cause all the nerves in his body to rupture.

Currently, Jason didn't want this to happen as he wants somehow a chance so that he can close the portal and save his race before he breathes his last breath but that matter is for later as he had to face the current scenario that his words caused.

After lifting Jason off the ground, the individual holding him met his gaze with a devilish smile. Jason could feel his heart race as he looked into the eyes of his captor, trying to decipher what was going on in his mind.

The smile on the individual's face made Jason shudder, sending chills down his spine. He felt completely helpless, suspended in the air with no way to defend himself. He tried to break free, but the hold only grew tighter, leaving him gasping for air.

Despite his fear, Jason tried to maintain eye contact with his captor, hoping to find some chance to somehow explain the matter to calm him down.

But all he could see was the same wicked grin that sent shivers down his spine.

"Now, why don't you say the words you told me earlier?" said the man, his devilish grin still present on his face. "I think I may have listened to something wrong."

Jason felt his heart sink as he heard those words. He knew exactly what the man was talking about, and he cursed himself for ever uttering those words in the first place. He had been careless, and now he was paying the price.

Still suspended in the air, Jason took a deep breath and tried to steady his nerves. He knew that he had to be careful with his words, or things could go from bad to worse.

"You fu**** m***** fu*****Are you mad, an idiot, or some sort of villain who wants to destroy his own race just to take revenge? Are you even powerful enough to stop what you have unleashed"

As the words left Jason's mouth, he felt himself break out in a cold sweat. He knew that he had just sealed his fate, and that there was no way out of this predicament.

Again he doesn't know how these words come out of his mouth is it someone is controlling him or due to his fear, whatever comes into his mind he speaks but whatever the reason is his fate is sealed now.

The man holding him only grinned wider, his eyes glinting with malice. "Well, well, well," he said. "It seems that you have quite the tongue on you."

Jason tried to backpedal, but it was too late. The damage had been done, and he was now at the mercy of his captor. He felt his heart pounding in his chest as he realized that this was it. This was the end.

As the seconds ticked by, Jason's mind raced, desperately searching for a way out of this situation. But he knew that it was futile. There was no escape, no hope for salvation.

All he could do was wait for the inevitable, praying that it would be quick and painless. As he hung there, helpless and afraid, Jason knew that his time was up. The end was near, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.

"I sense a familiar power emanating from you," the individual remarked, his expression furrowed in concentration. "It feels like something I've encountered before, though I can't quite place it."

After a moment of thought, his face lit up with excitement. "But why bother trying to recall it when I can simply delve into your memories and extract the information I need?" he exclaimed.

His words were tinged with a sense of eagerness, as if he had just stumbled upon a brilliant idea. The prospect of uncovering the source of the power he sensed was clearly tantalizing, and he seemed almost eager to dive into the task at hand.

Jason knows that it was all just an act to only anger him but before he can do anything he suddenly felt a shock all over his body and lost all control over his body.

However, to Jason's dismay, he could sense that his memories were being rapidly accessed by the individual. It was as if someone had cracked open a door to his mind and was rummaging through his thoughts at breakneck speed.

Jason felt a sense of violation and helplessness as he realized that his innermost secrets and experiences were being laid bare before a stranger.

He wondered how much of his personal history would be exposed and what consequences it could have for him and his loved ones.

Despite his growing sense of alarm, however, there was little he could do to stop the invasive intrusion.

As the stranger delved deeper into his memories, Jason felt an overwhelming sense of drowning, as if he was being submerged in a dark and icy ocean. His consciousness seemed to slip away, and he felt as if his soul was being wrenched from his body. Everything around him faded to black, and a void consumed all of his senses.

It was a deeply unsettling experience, and Jason struggled to regain control of his thoughts. He desperately tried to push back against the invasive intrusion, but it felt as if his mind was being torn apart. The sensation of being adrift in a cold, unfeeling abyss persisted, and he feared that he would never return from it.

As Jason struggled to maintain a grip on his consciousness, he felt a faint strand of something clinging to him.

It was as if a few frayed strings were holding him back from being completely consumed by the void that surrounded him.

These tenuous strands seemed to be the only thing preventing his soul from slipping away entirely.

Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced through Jason's being. However, this time the pain did not affect him, but rather, the man who was reading his memories.

The sudden attack seemed to throw the stranger off balance, causing him to falter in his efforts to probe Jason's mind.

The pain persisted and intensified, until finally, the man withdrew his mental grip from Jason's memories, looking dazed and bewildered.
