Chapter 45: Betrayal by Whom
The sudden attack seemed to throw the stranger off balance, causing him to falter in his efforts to probe Jason's mind.
The pain persisted and intensified, until finally, the man withdrew his mental grip from Jason's memories, looking dazed and bewildered.
Jason felt a sense of relief wash over him, as if he had narrowly escaped some terrible fate. The experience had left him shaken, but he was grateful that he had managed to prevent the stranger from uncovering all of his secrets.
Having faced numerous life-and-death situations in the span of a single day, Jason was left with a profound sense of awe and wonder.
He couldn't help but feel that some higher power must have intervened to save him from certain doom.
While he acknowledged that luck may have played a role in his survival, he couldn't shake the feeling that something far more powerful than mere chance had been at work.
Despite his many battles and close calls, Jason knew that he had not been the aggressor in this situation. He had not possessed any weapons or abilities that could inflict harm on someone as powerful as the man who had tried to read his memories. His survival, therefore, was all the more miraculous in his eyes.
Deeply moved by the events of the day, Jason felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination. He recognized that he had been given multiple opportunities to survive, and he resolved to make the most of his time by working tirelessly to protect his planet and his people from getting doom.
With a sense of humility and gratitude in his heart, Jason began to formulate a plan of action.
He knew that the road ahead would be difficult and fraught with danger, but he also knew that he possessed the courage to see it through.
He would not rest until he had done everything in his power to ensure the safety and well-being of his planet and his race, even if it meant sacrificing his own life in the process.
Jason felt a sense of purpose and conviction that he had never felt before.
He knew that the path ahead would be long and arduous, but he was ready to face it with all the strength and determination he could muster.
Also, somehow he had an unknown feeling that he will get a chance to save his race. So, at this time even if he had to beg to survive a few more minutes he will do that until the chance arrive.
"I finally understand why your energy feels so familiar to me. It appears that you are yet another one of those shit test subjects of that old dude," the individual exclaimed with a loud voice, accompanied by a burst of maniacal laughter.
Jason was momentarily taken aback, struggling to comprehend the significance of the individual's words. He found himself momentarily lost in confusion, his mind racing to make sense of the situation.
After a few moments of contemplation, however, the pieces began to align, and a realization struck him with a sudden intensity.
Clearly, the individual's demeanour and expression conveyed a seriousness that dispelled any notion of jest.
Jason gets a bit disheartened that whom he thought was a good person turned out to be only using him.
He always has this uneasy feeling and doubts about why that old man gave him such precious skills and helped him only because he slightly help him out but he never thought that he was being used as a test subject.
Despite the lack of clarity surrounding the specifics of his role as a test subject, Jason couldn't escape the mounting realization that the answers he sought would reveal themselves in due time.
The urgency of the situation intensified his desire for immediate understanding, and the mere thought of being used as a test subject ignited a burning anger within him.
The implications of being subjected to experiments and manipulated for unknown purposes stirred an indignant fury deep within Jason's core.
The sense of violation and exploitation fuelled his determination to unearth the truth but due to his special gift he also gets a little curious about what type of tests are conducted on him.
Still no matter what if he survives today somehow he will one day kill him for using him as a test subject no matter the obstacles that lay ahead of him.
Surprisingly from the looks of the situation, it looks like he didn't have to wait to know what purpose he was using as a test subject.
"Do not succumb to feelings of betrayal and anger for what he did to you," the individual asserted firmly, their tone carrying a sense of conviction.
"On the contrary, you should feel a sense of pride in being chosen by him. Even the most esteemed members of influential families did not receive even a fraction of his attention."
"Especially when you currently using the second stage of the skill created by him, he will be amazed someone reached the second stage and actually using it additionally he is still alive for more than a min or two and nearly a mid-rank11"
"You know how amazed he will be when he will know what he was testing for 100s of years finally step shows some signs of progress especially when you are just a low-level primitive human"
"You can't even imagine how much you helped me, now I can get a lot of precious things in exchange for this information and you"
The individual's face lit up with an expansive smile, his joy evident as if they had just struck a monumental victory. However, the sudden shift in his expression caught Jason off guard.
The smile quickly dissipated, replaced by an expression of deep despair and sadness. Before Jason could react, a wave of anger surged through the individual, leading him to unleash a series of forceful slaps upon him.
The blows landed with a jarring impact, leaving Jason stunned and bewildered. The aggression displayed by the individual conveyed a sense of power and dominance, as if he is purposefully inflicting a significant loss upon him.
Each slap seemed to carry the weight of their frustration and disappointment, leaving Jason shaken and reeling from the sudden turn of events.
After slapping Jason a few times with enough strength so that he can't be seriously injured he started to speak but this time with a sad tone.
"Despite all this looks like I can't take more things from him as I had to give him your dead body, as your body is gone beyond anything I can cure and once the effect of the blood-nourishing plant is gone you will also go along with it"
"How unlucky I am even if you had left with 15 min I can still take you to sucker even though he charge a lot but I will getting more from you being alive and you would have been saved but from the look of it the effect will only last for at a maximum of 2 min"
"How unfortunate for me but still even your dead body must be very useful for that old shit"
While Jason got a little bit disheartened after hearing all this but he still remains quiet as he know that if he try to say something that somehow offend him.
Before the chance that he was waiting for even when it was just a feeling at this moment, he can't take that risk so he remain silent and quietly listen to him.
Jason doesn't know why the individual is babbling all this but he was not the one to stop him. Simply because he was getting some precious knowledge and information way above his pay grade.
"On the contrary, I must also warn them to not try to read your mind it looks like someone is placed a spell on you to protect anyone from reading your mind, I was lucky enough to retract from reading your mind before it can inflict some serious damage"
"Who are the people I know that are capable of this" The individual said and started to try to remember some names.
