Chapter 52 - I Hope She Likes This

'Why must you make me doubt you?'

Echo sighed, and turned away from the window. She was taken aback when she heard a knock on the door. She stood in place, wondering who might come to visit her so soon. Was it Damon? At thought she almost ran to the door, and turned the door handle, but stopped before unlocking it. What if it wasn't Damon.

The person on the other side of the door knocked again. Echo took a deep breath and opened the door.

"...."

Rose stood outside the door, with a glare as she bit the side of her cheeks, "We need to talk!"

Before Echo could reply, the girl proudly walked into the room.

"Did you know, he made this room for me? And you ended up using it," Rose commented. She gawked at the furniture in the room, and then turned to Echo who was still holding the door open.

Hunter jumped out of the bed and growled mercilessly. She stood behind Rose, who gasped, rushing outside the room.

"Don't you know how to train him?" she glared at Echo.

"Hunter is a girl."

Rose glared at Echo, crossing her arms and proudly raising her chin.

"I came here first, that means that I have more power here than you do. And how do we know that you're not going to betray us either?"

Echo tilted her head as she stared at the girl who was having her own monologue. 'Why does this keep happening to me? Ugh! If I just stayed dead things would have been much better.'

"So don't try doing anything. Did you hear me?" Rose asked, finally glancing at Echo.

Echo raised her eyebrow, and then nodded. Rose huffed, and walked away from the door.

"I don't like her," Hunter expressed once Echo closed the door. The tiger climbed back on the bed and laid down on her side, stretching her limbs and yawning.

Echo turned her gaze from the door to Hunter, "I never said I liked her."

Hunter shut her eyes, "I didn't say you did."

Echo sighed. She was so frustrated that she was starting to be a jerk to Hunter. Was she any better than Damon?

"Sorry! I shouldn't have said that. It's just that all this is so frustrating. I thought Damon would be friendly towards us…" Echo explained, laying on the bed beside Hunter.

"But instead he just threw us inside the room and left without even telling us what was happening."

"Hmm!" Echo sat up on the bed, and looked at her hands. "He even took my sword!" She sat in place as she thought to herself, 'Should I take it back? I don't think it'll be a good idea.'

She sighed, laying back down on the bed.

Half of the day had passed, and nothing much happened. Echo spent her whole time just laying on the bed. She had not even noticed the time passing, since she was deep in thought.

Damon had taken a bath, and picked out an outfit for Echo. He too changed into a casual t-shirt, and trousers. He carried the clothes he selected for Echo with a smile.

'She'll look cute in this. I hope she likes it.' With a smirk he opened his room door, stopping abruptly. His smirk disappeared.

"It's been a while Damon," a man dressed in a suit stood outside his room.

Damon glared at the man, "Denzel!"

Denzel's eyes fell on the clothes Damon was holding, and then brought his gaze back to Damon's face. "I hear you got a special prisoner."

Damon smirked, "So that's why you're here?" He knew bringing Echo back would bring a lot of attention to him. The one question he had was how the news got out so soon?

"You haven't been around for a while. The rumours said that you had switched sides," Denzel stated, stepping closer to Damon. He had a stoic expression on his face, glancing once again at the clothes in Damon's hand, he asked, "I'm guessing you are going to visit someone?"

"Hmm." Damon walked past Denzel, brushing his shoulder.

Denzel swiftly turned around following him. "Is she as strong as they say?"

"Who?"

"The Protector. From what I've heard she's the promised warrior by the witches."

Damon stopped walking, and turned to Denzel. "Where'd you get all this information from?"

"Does it matter?"

"Yes. Someone here is leaking out information," Damon replied, as he continued walking towards Echo's room

Echo was casually laying on the bed, when she heard a knock on the door. Almost instantly she got out of bed and rushed to the door, opening it. She stared at Damon, and then at the very handsome man who was standing next to him.

The two men looked like total contrasts. Damon had the whole bad boy persona, while the other was dressed in a suit, and looked well groomed. His brown hair was neatly combed, with a few strands falling on his face.

Damon caught Echo's gaze on Denzel. 'What is she doing? Why is she staring at him like that? Is she blind? I'm standing right here." He pushed the clothes he was holding into Echo's hand, startling her.

"Here! I brought these for you." Damon pushed Echo into the room, and shut the door.

Echo stared at the door, 'What's wrong with him? Who was that other guy? What's with the clothes? JERK!' She screamed at him in her head.

Damon, who was standing behind the door, took a deep breath. He glared at Denzel, and knocked on the door once again.

Denzel smirked, realising the reason for Damon's actions. He casually shrugged off Damon's glare, but his suspicions were in the right place. Maybe Damon had truly switched sides? But it wouldn't make sense to bring a Protector to his mansion, it was the least safest place. He knew something was out of place.
